The 80s is stereo and it hits the sweet spot for me. I just haven’t heard the stereo version of the 160 yet, but I suppose I could bridge a pair of them. Now there’s an idea!

By the way, the guy finished my other 300b push-pull amp. I'm still doing a break-in. So far so good.

I wouldn’t be the greatest fan of tone controls but the Luxman CL-1000 is a beauty as is the McIntosh C-70.

I had a McIntosh C220, after some new 12AX7s (Gold Lions, I think they switched to these as stock in later incarnations) and a Silver mains fuse, sounded almost perfect. There are many others of course.

A lot of great amps here. But I am very satisfied with my Bryston 4bst.

still looking. This preamp is 10 times more money than the power amp I picked up in the trash can.. LoL... It just sounds incredible so I'm willing to put money on it. In fact I already ordered all the capacitors to high grade audio. Its running very nice but its 38 years old. So you never know.

I has its own tone being a push-pull. I'm actually looking at changing the tone a bit for I wanna scoop the midrange sound. I thought id try to break-in first then change the 12at7 preamp tube.

Youre right. Just like what you showed me. I just cant afford it. LoL....
I'll shop around on my budget preamp @ $675.00. If not then I'll extend some more cash. appreciate it.

Don't laugh -- my recently recapped '70s boat anchor McIntosh MC-2300 power amp is pretty much exactly what my power hungry Teledyne AR-9s need.

After continuous listening and running this amp a little over a month without making any tone adjustments, I've decided this is the time to put the acme output tubes the with black plate preamp tubes. Easily noticeable the bass has improved 25% complimenting the NOS black plate preamp tube that adds more holographic 3D sound. When the bass note hits, the wall shakes. When the maracas, roto tams and the singer whispers, its like whispering next to your ear. Talk about a trip, it feels like you're inside the music.
I'm very happy with this amp. The only con I can say is the heat of the 4 tubes which I don't think ill be running this on summer instead Ill use the 8 watt SET amp.
    Good evening!

The amplifier I recently purchased is far and away the best I have ever owned and by a substantial margin in all aspects of performance. But then again that’s just my opinion.
