It's just funny that there's all these articles online about "revisiting" Street Legal because of it being panned and misunderstood at the time. I think my issue in appreciating Dylan completely was that a lot of stuff I read was pre-internet so I was going by Rolling Stone and other publications at the time.
They just needed to trim 2-3 pieces of fat off this thing and maybe some sequencing adjustments. I have a fondness for this record. Next: 1. Compound Fracture 2. Xmas Curtain 3. The Dark 4. It is kind of weird to open with "Like Someone in Love" (which was the B-side on At the Five Spot Vol. 2) on the Complete Edition, if it wasn't actually the first tune in the set. It looks like Essential Jazz Classics based their sequence on the track order in The Complete Prestige Recordings box--which isn't the same as the original LP track listings. I wonder where jazzdisco.org got their track numbers.
Given your avatar, you might take note that in the rock realm, King Crimson and Grateful Dead are my two most favorite bands. It's a tough barrier and maybe you don't want to cross it, but if you want to give it a try, let us know. The tracks I posted are better. And I wanted to keep it succinct.
Yeah I'm skeptical, it'd been weird to do two versions of B Vamp in a row, if they even are definitely from the same night...
I love the Essential Jazz Classics complete set, but I miss the dead air between numbers = sounds of glasses and people talking.
