Can't believe the color craze (I'd like to buy everything, but .... ) Metallica on color vinyl. Carole King endless list https://www.walmart.com/search/?query=walmart exclusive vinyl
I can't believe some of the craptastic titles getting issued on vinyl. The Icon series? Those are unattractive budget releases from the CD era.
The Walmart near me has a small selection of vinyl and it is displayed all wrong. You'd have to be 7 feet tall to flip through the records as you would at a record store. Even Target does a better job of displaying them at eye level.
I was tempted to pickup ride the lighting, but don't own any metallica vinyl- so not sure how this would sound. Also the Pat Benatar was the other one I was considering.
The store by my house has them displayed the same way. Fortunately, I'm over 6' tall, but that back row was still tough to flip through.
Is that white vinyl? How does it sound? IIRC, there were a number of reports of pressing issues - non-fill, etc - with this.
I preordered the 6 record Metallica bundle that should be arriving next week. I'm pretty excited about it.
It's labeled as "Clear" but more cloudy than clear. The white vinyl was issued as part of Rhino's 2019 Start Your Ear Off Right campaign. My white vinyl copy that I purchased had the non-fill issue you mention on one of the sides. The other side was fine. Dr. Rhino eventually sent me a good replacement, but it took a LOOOONG time. Hopefully these newer "clear" pressings don't suffer similar issues. Discogs info indicates they both share the same matrix/runout info.
The replacement sounds great. Flawless pressing. No issue with the color vinyl either. Never had an original so can't compare, but very happy to be able to play a clean sweet judy on vinyl. My couch album copy was a very used pickup and pretty worn.
I have the late 70s recut by George Piros which sounds pretty good (although I can’t say I’ve ever A-B’d the tracks with other pressings). But I’m still tempted by this new cut...
It is clear vinyl. The sound was pretty good, but it had a number of pops during the first track. My pressing of STP's Core in the picture above was the same way. Purple was better sounding and relatively quiet.
Now that we know @JorgeGvb was playing clear vinyl and it’s his platter we’re seeing through the vinyl, you’ve inadvertently called his platter “used mop water grey” color. He’s sending out the goon squad now. . .
[email protected] Communication and response time are poor, but in the few times I've had to deal with the "Dr." for replacements, he's come through. Eventually.
Seems like they're getting the titles that Barnes and Noble used to get. It feels like the latter is getting out of the exclusive vinyl game.
