Bought it already this week, an Adioquest Niagara 3000 power conditioner. That should be all for this year.
So far I have a Furutech gtx-d ncf(r) in bound today . The rest may be music and movies as the later part of 2020 saw some huge system upgrades.
I just made some upgrades to a whole new A/V bed /sitting room system last year as well as a Dac/Streamer in my main system. I had planned on waiting and watching class ‘D’ amplification developments over the next little while and go in that direction. For some reason I decided I must return to a tube preamp after 30 years or so and I’m waiting delivery on a new pre. This was a relatively spur of the moment decision and totally unplanned for. My system went mainly unchanged over the last 20-30 years or so.
WOW these both are 'timely' as they involve Modwright. Thinking that possibly I'll be getting the Cambridge CXN (latest version) $1100 then POSSIBLY send to Modwright for their tube/PS mod ($1500) then possibly get a good 2TB SSD external drive ($300) or UPnP server ($???) ... OR for an extra $400 on top of all that, just getting the AURALiC Altair G1 with 2TB SSD drive built-in. But ... $3300? Yikes, probably not. OR(/and? probably not either, and certain not both or all) a pair of Lintons, or EVO 4.4s ...
Talked to ModWright for the first time a couple of times today. I’m very impressed with the way they are able to knowledgeably communicate with the customer. Maybe you should call them and get their advice on your situation. They seem pretty straightforward from what I can tell.
I ordered a Rogue Audio Cronos Magnum III about three weeks ago - they said between 3-5 weeks. Each day has felt like an eternity!
I did send them an email, haven't heard back. I asked them about the (remote) possibility of adapting their CXN mod (partially or totally) to my 12 year old 840C CD player ... not holding my breath on that one but we'll see. The 840C DOES have a toroidal transformer, unlike the CXN. I did forget about the possibility of getting a pair of Ref 3A MM De Capos (would need to be used) to try as a replacement for my beloved 2002 Triangle Titus monitors. That may be further down the possibility chain though. Or not, we'll see.
I find it was well worth talking on the phone as they are really willing to help and things may be answered that come up on the conversation you maybe haven’t thought about.
Leaning towards a SUT and LOMC cartridge. Leaning heavily towards the Lounge Copla to pair with my Budgie. Still researching LOMC carts. Then I'll have it mounted by a professional.
There were no professionals around to mount my cart a few years ago here locally, so I had to wing it myself. It was a bit daunting at first, took a few hours to dial it in, but it all worked out.
