What soft music acts do I like?

I'm no longer afraid to admit it. I'm coming out of the shadows. I love almost all yacht rock.

    That felt good to say.

From my point of view, this is Karen Carpenter’s best vocal performance!

I only have CD-R copies of the first Cyrkle album and The Minx OST as well as a 45 of Red Rubber Ball. Their records never show up in the UK. I really like them though.

I'm a big fan of guitarist Eric Gale's (not to be confused with Eric Gales) silky smooth jazz/R&B/soul stylings.

Sade also has the soft, mellow sound. She may not be true "rock", but I think she fits the vibe. As does a lot of Norah Jones' discography. Both Sade and Norah have the calming sound I love.

I don't really like hard rock and I like a lot of '60s big hits, minor hits and not-even-close-to-hits that would probably be considered "soft".

How about the '60s-'70s Moody Blues, to name one?

I am not sure where to draw the line at what is “soft” here. On a spectrum including the hardest music I like, the Beatles and the Band would both be much closer to the soft end...

Is Mazzy Star really soft? I guess I can see it.

I kept thinking of some favorites like Darryl Hall & John Oates and Dusty Springfield, but then I thought otherwise. I guess they can be seen/heard that way on some songs. Feels like they're too soulful. I'm guessing Gordon Lightfoot fits.

I guess so, but I don’t think of him that way until some of his ‘80s output.

There's nothing I like that could be categorized solely as easy listening. The closest might be something like the Platters. Some of the early country-pop I listen to such as Patsy Cline is pretty soft, but not consistently.
