Yes that's their typical sound. It is pretty - they only have a few records out. There is a label in Taiwan "Wind Records" that specializes in this kind of indigenous/new age thing.

Yes, I like that cloud-hidden faraway sound - my favorite record is "Silent Sky". It is on Discogs. Maybe Spotify, I don't know. For some reason I can't figure I can't get the Wind Records site to load.

Hang on, here is a link to their page at Wind Records in Taiwan

Ryan Adams has some very soft songs, "I'm Sorry and I Love You" from his last album is very soft

Some of the 4AD bands - Cocteau Twins, Dead Can Dance, Dif Juz, etc. would probably qualify. Kitaro, Shadowfax, Ackerman, et al. I suppose I'm thinking of a certain melodic lushness that mainly lacks hard edges, if that makes sense.

I'd returned to this thread tonight b/c I realized I forgot to list Norah Jones in my earlier post on pg 4. I had a number of them to list, but I should have remembered Norah as I just recently purchased The Fall to add to Feels Like Home, already a part of my collection.

    Also adding:
    Lianne La Havas
    Susheela Ramen

KT Tunstall - particularly acoustic release, Invisible Empire//Crescent Moon
    The Durutti Column - avantegarde
Esperanza Spalding - just listened earlier this evening - contemporary jazz, soul
    Brenda Russell
    Dave Koz

For me the softest music, Tangerine Dream.
I have some of their early music, but mostly more recent material.
Nowadays I must be leaning slightly away from say Nirvana, although I love both

only one release ( unfortunately) from each. Not sure if they can be found but they were each superb. Imho.
There really are man for me - never got into the head banging music of the ‘70s that much. I always preferred artists that had melody and craftsmanship in their repertoire. Many of the hard rock/ acid rock bands I find to be quite pedestrian on both fronts.
