The Dig (Netflix)--Carey Mulligan, Ralph Fiennes

We're probably going to start this tonight. Anyone else seen it?

These two normally don't do a lot of stinkers.

 

I watched it over the weekend. I found it enjoyable. Would recommend.

I watched it yesterday. It was enjoyable.

 

I watched it a couple of nights ago. It kept my interest with an excellent cast. I enjoyed it.

 

Good solid movie.

 

My wife and enjoyed it. Well acted by the two main characters as well. Recommended.

 

Mrs Linus and I both enjoyed it immensely. Me, I thought it would be a bit average/ordinary but I was pleasantly surprised.
Recommend.

 

I have been looking forward to this movie since I heard about it.
An early memory for me was going to see the treasure with my Grandad on one of the Summers I spent with them.
I was not disappointed with the movie. Very well told story.

Bonus points for a nice plot involving Lily James, the cutie who was in Yesterday, the 2019 movie about the brit who was the only one in the world who had ever heard of The Beatles (required Beatles content for a Hoffman Board thread).

While you're there, look for a new Irish film called Herself. A woman leaves an abusive relationship with her daughters, and takes an unusual measure to seek a life for her and the girls. Very empowering film.

My wife and I watch this the other day, and wound up going down a giant YouTube rabbit hole watching videos about the Sutton Hoo archaeological find.

Some people are annoyed that the very youthful Carry Mulligan played a woman who was actually 56 during the events portrayed in the film, but on the other hand Mrs Pretty gave birth to her son at 46, relatively late, and would have had to explain it. Also, you need a star to make a film like this possible.

 

I live in Suffolk where the film is set so there has been a lot of local interest in this film. I thought it was very well done.

 

It was enjoyable but I felt it was rather by numbers. Very odd they didn't at least show some of the treasures at the end.
Oh, I also kept thinking "why aren't you digging the other barrows"!

 

Reading up, it appears its another "Based on just 20% of a true story and the rest is made up" movie.

 

Started to watch it last night, but got distracted. Will try again today.

 

If you enjoy Lily James , may I suggest 'The Exception ' , a good World War II flick featuring a couple of scenes where she's looking particularly cute....

 

I'm gonna go with, distracting from the plot threads involving character arcs they needed to keep viewer involvement. Also, keeps the focus on the boxes they did take out and put under the bed.

 

Great, great movie! And I'm so glad that I don't have to go to a physical movie theater to see it. My 65" screen and 7.1 surround system, along with the ability to use captions for the dialect, makes this a perfect "at home" experience.

 

But it was well done and enjoyable.

The Dig is a beautiful movie, with a fine cast. The cinematography is excellent.

was nothing like that. I enjoyed the movie but not my cup
of tea (as a rule).
