Any plans to celebrate Sgt. Pepper's 40th anniversary tomorrow?

I look forward now to the 50th anniversary remaster.

Paul Gambacinni was on the BBC Breakfast TV show this morning about it.

I'll give my Canadian Capitol stereo vinyl a spin.

Isn't June 1st (June 2 in the US) the official release date?

I know some say it's silly to commerate old record albums, but we are talking about Pepper. Six months ago I expected the Beatles remasters to be built around the 40th anniversary of Pepper. All I hear is that Cheap Trick is playing the Hollywood Bowl. Apple/EMI missed the important 40th of Revolver as well, while Pet Sounds keeps getting the anniversary treatment.

Just think, this album is now so old, it'll be 20 years since we were all celebrating it's 20th anniversary.

I remember the 20th anniversary well. I had a party to celebrate and spun only vinyl - I had no CD player in '87.

I might go crazy and play the picture disc vinyl, :shh: on second thought I'll give the CD a spin or two.

To mark the 40th anniversary of the Beatles classic album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, today's big music names will give their take on the record. In a BBC2 special. Oasis, the Killers, and Travis, among other bands, will cover tracks from the original album, which was first released on June 1, 1967. The new version of Sgt. Pepper will air in the UK on June 2.

For me, this means that children born the day i bought my first CD (in May of 1986) are now legally old enough to buy alcohol in most states. I'm gettin' old. :sigh:

Oh, SHUT UP! I don't wanna hear that! Nothing's worse than being older than John Lennon when he died! Tom Leher put it best when he said, "It amazes me to think when Mozart was my age, he had already been dead for ten years.":agree:

shhhh...not so loud. You'll wake up the folks at EMI.
Maybe Starbucks will release a 40.5 year anniversary edition.

Seriously, this is getting really frustrating. At the very least, how about a press release with some welcomed details regarding the remasters.
I'll give them a hint, it should start something like this:
" To mark the 40th anniversary of the release of "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" by the Beatles, Apple is excited to announce..."

I have a simple plan to mark this anniversary: listen to my 20-year old CD.

    That's all I need. :)
