When Elvis sang I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry during his live worldwide satellite broadcast, Aloha From Hawaii, he prefaced it by saying it was "The saddest song I've ever heard."
When I was a kid I disliked it probably because it received so much air play but over time I’ve come to appreciate it.
I never appreciated it properly until I learnt French & could understand it properly. I just thought it sounded nice.
This song never ceases to put a smile on my face, no matter how bad things are. The joy and happiness of love shine through Davy's vocals, emotion, and articulation - enabling you to feel the lyrics and happiness yourself. Davy Jones - Girl (1971)
Maybe The Pretenders "Lovers of Today" or "Birds of Paradise" When those songs came out I was already a HUGE pretenders fan, and hearing those songs really struck me.
I'll probably get around to catching up with this, saying what I think & sharing more of my favourite love songs later as I've finished listening to my love song records & was getting through my love song CDs when I got a sharp digging pain when plugging in my CD/radio/cassette player & it later started echoing & vibrating even when I turned it down so I've been told I'm only allowed to play records both normal & gramophone on my normal record player or gramophone depending on what I'm playing, watch youtube videos or sing love songs until I get a new CD/radio/cassette player. I've ordered another 1 online & am waiting for delivery.
As I just posted a non-love song related post I thought I'd better post 1 of my favourite love songs. Here's Jennifer Rush's Power of Love.
