I too have this CD. Not only does it not use the album art but presents it in reduced form! Reminds me of the Woody Allen joke from Annie Hall: “The food here is terrible”
“Yes and such small portions!”
They even got lazy on the spine. It says “Sly - There’s A Riot Goin’ On”
And...one more grievance: they omitted the title track. Granted, it’s a few seconds of silence but still it’s an artistic statement and should be honored. Okay, rant over!

Haven't been through the whole thread but has Astral Weeks been mentioned?

You don't have to go through the entire thread, you can search the thread for a word or phrase. It doesn't always work because many people can't be bothered to include text, just a picture. In this case, a search finds at least two mentions of "Astral Weeks" by name.

I like that one as well but I think the actual cover is more timeless so probably the correct decision.

Far from being a brilliant album though. In fact I don't think Paul made a brilliant solo album but that's partly subjective.

I'd actually love a coffee table book with all of the "horrible album covers".

I wonder if The Beatles would have put Yoko on the cover of their album at that time?

The thing I find almost subliminally disturbing about this painting is Ringo's physically impossible hand gesture.

This paining is kind of cool, but the actual White Album cover was a FAR, FAR better decision, IMO. This one would be just another odd psychedelic image. The White Album cover is iconic.

It's a great cover very new age. The black border is ugly though

Probably and technically Yoko is on the album.

I like that cover a lot, as I like a ton of these, but what I can't believe I've never noticed about it before that's very cool is the weird shadow/reflection behind her head--like there's a monster there. It's yet another pun on "head game."

In fact, that shadow/reflection behind her head is so obvious now, where I can't believe I never noticed it, I'd say this is a good example of the Mandela effect. (Well, assuming anyone else is surprised by it.)

I had a shirt with a stylized/simplified version of the Head Games cover on it, by the way, as I saw Foreigner on that tour (I saw them on every early tour, actually, starting with the first album)

As much as I love the album, I still have no idea what happened on Coltrane's First Meditations.

Coltrane's albums around that time almost always had a more or less nice picture of him. The suddenly, boom here's a dove. Oh and a rose as well. Because why not? But why? Like, who's the dove? And why does it look like the sax is threatening the rose?!
