Music will be in "CD-quality, lossless audio format" Five Things to Know About Spotify HiFi — Spotify
It is finally happening, Spotify is launching a Hi Fi option. Five Things to Know About Spotify HiFi — Spotify If it is cheaper than Tidal I am ready to jump to this. Spotify has better suggestions, playlists and apps. On the other hand they pay artists much less compared to Tidal.
Awesome. No one beats Spotify for interface, features, and collection. If they roll out high-res alongside the CD quality tier I'd make the switch from Tidal in a heartbeat.
I'm excited about this. I haven't seen enough consistency from MQA to put a lot of stock in it. I've enjoyed Tidal, and I enjoy it more with Tidal connect. But if Spotify is as good as Tidal, it's an EASY choice for me. I also like the Spotify doesn't say anything about a new subscription tier. If it comes automatically to Premium members they are making the choice very easy.
In aa survey they asked me to take they seemed to indicate a plammed price of ca $4.9 extra, and asked my opinion on that price! Tbh while I like the idea it pisses me a bit bc they already increased the price for the regular premium service. If not for srudent discount I wouldn't afford it
I was more than happy to pay for the $30/month family plan before they reduced it to $16. So if a higher quality product costs more, so what? A small price compared to what most people pay for subscription TV.
Considering the instability of Qobuz, I'd go back to Spotify if there was a Hi-Res option. This is great news IMO.
Already at the top of their game, yet they're stooping to Amazon-like lows. "Coming soon: Amazon Music with LemonTM...!"
Hopefully Apple Music follows suit. Undoubtedly, but certainly comparable to Tidal/Amazon/etc. My guess would be $14.99 instead of $19.99 but I don't have any insider knowledge, just what my instinct tells me.
Spotify HiFi is a lossless streaming tier coming later this year Fairly exciting to me. I know they’ve experimented before but a true CD Quality plan would be a win for me. Has anyone else heard anything about this?
Announcement was just made today I believe. Pretty exciting! The Spotify interface is my favorite to use, and the connectivity I have with my Chromecast audio devices and little nest minis, plus my squeezebox touch and even my xfinity Comcast flex streamer has me pretty excited for this.
Heard the news earlier today. It surprised me as I thought they were more aligned with Apple's philosophy of lossy is fine. I wonder if Apple will get into the lossless game now? Not sure I'll bother with the upgrade. I'll wait for the details on pricing. Due to covid and the resulting WFH situation, I do find myself wanting to play Spotify through my hi-fi more often than I ever did so I might give it a go.
Spotify announced it yesterday morning as was posted here: The Official Spotify Discussion Thread Although they gave barely any information about it except that they will offer it sometime later this year.
