"Do It All Night" wore out, so we're left with 6.

    Pick the ONE weakest link!

DISCUSSION: did you ever see Prince live? If so, how was it, and did he do any "Dirty Mind" songs?

    DISMISSED SONGS:
    -
    Do It All Night
    -Gotta Broken Heart Again

    “Sister” again

DQ: I saw him live only once, in the mid-'90s, at the grand opening of his Glam Slam club in Miami Beach. It was great, and he played a lot of his material from around that time (the opener was “Endorphinmachine”), but none of his old stuff.

Do you remember the date - or at least the year? 1995?

I'd be curious to look up the setlist!

(And I think "Endorphinmachine" is a great "lost" Prince song! I'd love to have heard it live!)

Here are all his Miami Beach Glam Slam setlists:

I saw him June 8, 1994, because at one point someone brought out a belated birthday cake for Prince. His birthday was the day before, June 7.

Also, he didn’t open with “Endorphinmachine”—that followed the opener, “Come.”

(Check out his June 10 setlist, though. Was that Prince—or Santana? :D)

Wanted to see the Lakeland show in 1983 as I knew about it at the time but had no way to get there from Orlando [about a hours drive and I didn't have a car yet]. Never saw him anywhere, either. Geez! I see on Setlist.fm he played Lakeland a LOT. That hurts.

"Sister" was adroitly punk of Prince but the track was seemingly there for shock value; hence its brevity.

Saw Prince on the 1988 Lovesexy tour and he played Dirty Mind, When You Were Mine, Head, and the one I voted off just now - Sister.

Interesting that Prince apparently played the same venue 6/8/95... and did open with "Endorphinmachine" that night!

    :righton:

I saw 1984, 1988 and 1993 as my 1st 3 Prince tours. I liked 1993 more than you did and agree 1988 was the best of the bunch!

I’m looking for my ticket stub tonight just to make sure I saw the 6/8/94 show. Because I just found an article saying he did a show there the night before, on his birthday...

Saw him twice. Had a ticket for the U.K. SOTT tour, but that got cancelled

Then saw him on the Lovesexy and Nude tours. Both in Birmingham I think. Plenty of Dirty Mind stuff played on the former, but I can’t remember a thing about the Nude tour other than Nothing Compares 2U.

voted for Sister which I still love although to me it is the weakest of the remaining tracks

I saw him once, on 24-03-1995 when his popularity was at an all time low. I don't tink the concert was sold out. Which was great because we could get upfront pretty easily. He played very few old tracks that tour, a lot of unreleased tracks and some covers.
    This was the tracklist:

    Endorphinmachine
    The Jam
    Shhh!
    Days Of Wild
    Now / Babies Makin’ Babies
    Sex Machine
    Funky Stuff
    Johnny
The Most Beautiful Girl In The World
    P Control
    Letitgo
    Pink Cashmere
    Loose!
    I Love U In Me
    Peach
    Instrumental
    7 / Interlude
    Get Wild
    Billy Jack Bitch
    Eye Hate U
    319
    Gold

After checking my ticket stub, turns out I saw him on his birthday, 6/7/94. Here’s the setlist, which I got from a DVD of the show that’s selling on eBay:

    1. Endorphinmachine
    2. Space
    3. Interactive
    4. Days of Wild
    5. Now
    6. The Most Beautiful Girl in the World
    7. The Ride
    8. Get Wild
    9. Acknowledge Me
    10. Race
    11. The Jam
    12. Shhh
    13. Billy Jack Bitch

(I think the 6/8/94 show on setlist.fm is actually the 6/7/94 show I saw, only they have it opening with “Come.”)

    Voted off Sister as well.

I've seen Prince live 5 times (one of his 21 nights in London in 2007, 2010 2x, 2011 and 2014). In general they were excellent experiences. The first time I saw him (11-08-2007) he only played hits. Maybe not a preferred setlist for a hardcore fan but a very nice introduction as a first show. The best one was his show in 2011 (09-07-2011). It was a night show at a festival here (North Sea Jazz). Though not an official aftershow it did have such a vibe. He opened with Joy In Repetition (yes! After hearing a live version on the One Night Alone... Live set I always wanted to hear this one) and then jammed through his catalogue (Bambi! Mountains!) with some covers thrown in as well.
The only Dirty Mind song I ever saw perform live was Uptown, at his 18-11-2010 (another nice concert for which he was his own opening act).

Discussion: I saw Prince 21 times between 11/84 and 5/15.

    Heard these "DM" songs live:

    "When U Were Mine" (1988, 2002)
    "Uptown" (2000)
    "Head" (1988)
    "Sister" (1988)

"Lovesexy" tour - which I saw 3X - easily the best of these tours!
