Songs with the best outro you have ever heard?

Figure It Out from Royal Blood has one of the best outros I have heard in years.

Songs with perfect outros

 

Layla

 

As fab as that fab track by the Fabs is, I don't think it can be classed as an "outro". To me, an outro has to last for at least a couple of bars...

 

Maybe not THE best, but the first song that came to mind for me is the Buzzcocks - "E.S.P."

 

ONE FOOT OUT THE DOOR. that one is EVH most amazing outro ever IMHO

 

For me in the dying seconds when he fades the so-far unused string section up right as the track is fading out.

 

"She's So Heavy" is the clear winner for me.

 

Hmmm...I don't know if I've ever been able to make it all the way thru the Layla outro. If I did I was asleep

There are lots of those... two that came to my mind immediately:

Massive Attack - One Love


and...

 

Blur - For Tonorrow


Both songs end with a rather surprising instrumental part, both very graceful. I sometimes think they would have served well for the basis of an entire song, but then again... their flare might be that they are short little outros.

 

That one might be the greatest song ever.

 

I thought of another excellent one:

I've always loved Steve Hillage's cover of "Hurdy Gurdy Man".

The recapitulation of motifs at the end of Thick as a Brick is stellar. From 17:17 onward. These last 4 minutes or so are astounding, umpteen crazy time changes and in particular the drumming of Barrie Barlow and the keys of John Evan, plus a shout out to the strings from David Palmer that drop in out of nowhere.

 

Cream - Pressed Rat And Warthog. Wish it went on longer.

 

Deerhunter - "Desire Lines"

 

I want that outro played at my funeral, as I make my outro.

Queen - Hang On In There

 

Gerry Rafferty - "Baker Street"
