I think the TD-1000 from KAB is one of the best <$200 choices I've made to my vinyl listening experience. I was immediately impressed with how much it seemed to sonically clean everything up. I can't say I've noticed quantifiable differences in trying different mats or cables but the KAB damper made a noteworthy improvement in my house.
I have a cover over my TT cover but at least it's not audiophile priced....old typewriter cover at GW..79 cents.
If anyone out there is still in the market for a 1210GAE, please PM me. I ordered late (In August) so decided to order from two different dealers. Bang, both shipped, so now I have one to spare. One came from USA Tube Audio in AZ, and the other from Value Electronics in NY Will sell for the MSRP, and you pickup shipping cost (Still double boxed) Hopefully I am not breaking any forum laws by putting this out there. Thanks
I think there’s a forum marketplace for this... So you’re not breaking any rules, but just in the wrong place
I bought two nice covers from Germany with a nice embroidered "Technics" on the top. I just don't know how to post a photo.
Be careful with air compressors. They blow lots of moisture. Sometimes you see it sometimes you don't.
Here is one from England: Technics Ltd Edition Deck Cover- dark grey/pale grey embroidery I bought mine a while ago, can't find the link.
New SL-1210GAE owner. Couple questions. How accurate is the stylus weight adjuster? Close enough or do I have to purchase a scale? Is it possible to purchase another identical headshell? I know KAB sells an older similar headshell for $99. Want to be able to switch out cartridges easily and seems identical headshells would make this easier and faster. Thanks!
I got #846 in late December. Looks like they are getting towards the end of the production run if your numbers are that high.
I set mine to 2 grams and my digital scale shows 1.97 grams. That’s pretty close in my opinion. I have that $99 headshell from KAB. It’s pretty much identical, but it does not have the logo printed and the finish looks a slightly different shade of black.
Received my KAB arm damper today, have yet to install it though. I am impressed that Kevin had the foresight to include a plastic buffer on the end of the set-screw so as not to damage the arm gantry.
Thanks for the likes Looking at a picture of my turntable… Can you see that the front of the rubber base is not perfectly flush with the aluminum top plate? I’ve seen it on a few others on the Internet. If I press on the rubber base I can get it to flex slightly inward but it of pushes right back out. I’m happy to live with it, just curious if they are all a little like this. Because rubber is flexible this may be somewhat unavoidable
I have a 1200GAE. Mine looks flush, but when I drag my finger across the seam, I can tell the rubber is not perfectly smooth.
While mine (1200G) is smooth, the seam is not perfect when sliding a finger along the front and back. Sides feel perfect. Visually it looks perfect and nothing seems to flex.
Thanks.... when viewed straight-on mine appears perfect. Only when you view from above (as in the picture) can you tell that the seam isn’t perfect. And it only flexes when I push on it with a great deal of pressure. I bet they all somewhat imperfect in this regard. You’re trying to perfectly align a flexible rubber base with a metal top plate.
