This is another 1 of my favourites. My favourite part of the song is where he sings "Your name is heard in high places. You know the Aga Khan. He sent you a race-horse for Xmas & you kept it just for fun, for a laugh, 'Hahahaha!".
My favorites include: Badfinger - Without You Badfinger - Baby Blue Peter Gabriel - Love to Be Loved The Beatles - Long, Long, Long UFO - Try Me Bruce Springsteen - For You Chris Isaak - You Owe Me Some Kind of Love Metallica - Nothing Else Matters Foreigner - Waiting For a Girl Like You John Lennon - Out of the Blue
let me know how you do and which you like best. The Modernaires sang with Glen Miller for years...In the Black Complete Glen Miller CD box there are at least 55 songs included with the Modernaires...
Great song, but by now I like Frozen Orange Juice even more! The dictionary definition of glorious orchestration ...
Let's not forget this gem, with brilliant, hilarious and ultimately very romantic lyrics - Herman's Hermits, Silhouettes:
Thank you very much. I think the song you shared is good but I still prefer "Where do you go to, my lovely?".
I will do. Thank you very much. I'll probably do it when all these restrictions are over & I can do events planning & the more vocal aspects of my job again instead of all the creative jobs, online archiving training & historical research & report-writing jobs I'm having to do at home. That sounds good. I might have to get that 1. Thank you very much for the recommendation. The only Glen Miller songs/instrumentals I've got are on gramophone records which I normally play on my gramophone so I can really hear them like they were heard back in the day.
1 of the things I admire about some men on here is the fact they think so highly of their wives. Mother didn't get that treatment from Dad. He always had to be right or we were called stupid. We always had to do what he said his way when he said so or we were doing it wrong & we got shouted at. We had to watch what he wanted on TV & listen to the music he wanted to listen to. He could be loving at times & we had some good times too.
Great thread! I'm a sucker for a good love song and am enjoying going through the responses. A lot of my favorites have already been posted so I figured I'd post a fav of mine that's not very well known. While love songs are great, for me personally, there's nothing better than a good unrequited love song. This is a song by Matty Healy (lead singer of The 1975), and here's what he said about it in an interview... "This song is about a girl [friend] that I had. She was beautiful, absolutely beautiful. I loved her but she didn’t feel the same way. I don’t even think she knew I loved her. This song is about the times I had with her. As she and I became close friends, we had traditions. It was kinda like our thing, y'know? We’d somehow always coincidentally be out at exactly 1:02AM, so that was our thing. Now whenever I’m awake at 1:02AM, I think of her and I let her go."
I'm glad you like the thread & are enjoying seeing & listening to the love songs mentioned. There are some good love songs here. I'm a sucker for a good love song too. I'll listen to the 1 you posted later when I've caught up with everything.
a few more that haven't been mentioned yet Mazzy Star - Fade into you Everything But the Girl - Missing Three Doors Down - Here without you
