Having a bit of insomnia tonight led me to scour through the Bin. I ended up getting these. I'm super happy about the Bowie book because I was unable to score the "Ricochet" book that was briefly available last week. Hopefully I don't get another cancellation... I actually did the same thing yesterday in the evening, perused the book section just for the heck of it. I put Bowie in my cart and thought I'd sleep on it. The heavy item shipping made it a bit less of a no-brainer but this morning I dropped an order for it along with the resurrected Help! set.
Glad to see the Help! set back for those who missed it. Still an absolutely ridiculous bargain of course.
I've never seen Help! and this package seems like a great way to check it out at a rather low price, if for no other reason than to broaden my historical musical horizons. I'll probably watch it with my son who took some sort of music appreciation course in college a couple years ago at which time he was combing through what Beatles I happen to have in my collection.
I haven't seen it since I was a kid, watched it with my wife the other night and it was amusing although far from life changing. They must have really overmanufactured this one - I looked up old posts on this board about it and it appears that this box was commonly being blown out at around $20 (down from the imaginary $125 list) 10 years ago.
I really love the set pieces in Help! even to this day. The whole thing with their row house(s), the crazy locales, the recording studio... the story is just an excuse to see all of that to me.
Thanks for the heads up. I find that using one of these codes at DD gives the best price when I want to order a Speakers Corner or Pure Pleasure title. (Provided that they have it in stock of course.) I just ordered Idris Muhammed Kabsha on PP for about $28. Best price I've seen. Any other Pure Pleasure or Speakers Corner titles I should consider?
@samwisefan: What you haven't grasped is that the Blowout Bin now comprises your life, and that those who frequent this thread operate as one, similar to the borg collective in Star Trek Next Generation. Also, muchas gracias to @SJP and @Suedebelly for the head's up on the Coltrane set!
I refer to this as the Blowout Bin Hive Mind. But similar idea to be sure. And you win for Best Costume. Lol.
Well damn. Both DeepDiscount & importcds cancelled my orders for the Brother Ah set. There were 15+ available from importcds on eBay when I made the purchase too. Alliance is hands down the worst company I’ve ever dealt with in terms of keeping up with stock. And of course, DD didn’t refund the taxes I paid for items with partial cancels. If anyone happened to grab an extra, I’d be more than happy to buy it off you
Yeah, I think the fact that they are running these multiple storefronts all off the same inventory is a problem for them, as their systems likely don’t keep up with it all and that’s why we see stuff like this happen all the time. I missed Brother Ah too sadly—hope you can track it down.
Glad you found the deal you wanted. I've no idea which others to suggest in PP or SC...but I'm sure others can help you out with that one.
I ordered another Help deluxe edition from Popmarket today. Just $8.79 shipped. The enclosed lobby cards alone are worth that much, so I couldn’t pass it up.
Well apparently my phone listens and reads everything I say or type because this just turned up in my YouTube feed:
Mine arrived today, it's a thing of beauty! Mind-boggling deal, really. Puzzlingly, my Gruff Rhys LP has shipped after I reordered it following their cancellation. I think they are a bit shonky at keeping track of what's in stock.
