Sequels that were made that you had completely forgotten about

This came to my mind as I had forgotten there was a sequel to the 2006 THE HILLS HAVE EYES, which was called THE HILLS HAVE EYES 2 which was released in 2007.

I saw the 2006 one and enjoyed it but never have seen the 2007 one and to be honest not sure if I will

I wouldn't say Hills 2 is forgotten. I hear it mentioned often. I would say the sequel to the original 70s version is more forgotten. As it should be.

The Gate 2 is a good example of a forgotten sequel. Many people didn't even know it was made.

The Evening Star, the sequel to Terms of Endearment, doesn't seem to be widely remembered.

The original The Hills Have Eyes 2 (1985) is awful, but it’s not Wes Craven’s fault. He left the film mid-production after the money ran out. What he had shot was cobbled together by others with all of those flashbacks to the original film, after A Nightmare on Elm Street became a smash hit. The production company realized they could have the “next” Craven film on their hands. It might have never been released, otherwise.

I was a big fan of The Gate and had no idea the sequel existed until I read about Gate II in Michael Weldon’s second Psychotronic book. When I finally got to see it, I really liked it (though it’s obvious the budget was considerably lower than the first film). I have the Scream Factory blu ray now.

I didn’t see it until years after its release. It’s understandable why it’s forgotten.

Shock Treatment (1981) Sequel to Rocky Horror Picture Show

I've never seen it but will be looking for it now.

The added irony for me is that Janet (Susan Sarandon's character in RHPS) is played by Jessica Harper (Phoenix from Phantom of the Paradise). In the trailer it looks like Janet (Jessica Harper) is being groomed for stardom (like Phoenix in POTP).

Many Rocky Horror fans seem to hate it, but I dig Shock Treatment. The movie was ahead of its time. The premise that the residents of Denton, Texas (a real city outside of the movie) are all both the audience and actors for a 24-hour, daily television show - shades of today’s “reality” television. The title theme song is a favorite of mine. Janet is more being corrupted than groomed, for what it’s worth.

What a horrible movie. Jackie Gleason almost redeems it but it cannot be saved from the mediocrity of Mac Davis.

Incredible. I sat through the first one for my wife. Easily the worst movie I have ever seen. I can only imagine the sequel.

When I popped in to post this, I thought I was making this up... then I googled “Garfield II”.

Good grief. How is it even possible this exists?

Everyone seemed to have forgotten this existed when The Oz, Great and Powerful came out. They kept calling that the longest between an original movie and it's first sequel.
