Trailer just shows the lighter fluffy pieces (& of course, they come off pretty sexist; it is a show based in the 60s, before advances in equality), but fortunately there is more to it, w/period-history during the Cold War & 1 of the stewardesses is also working as a courier/spy for the U.S. Government, so there's that intrigue. On Episode 4; it's okay & it is entertainment content which is something different, outside of the usual dramas of medical & crime & the newer black comedy's, which I do enjoy to an extent; I don't like too much of any 1 thing. To be clear, that's not a comedy w/black (as in race) actors. I've mentioned shows using that term to people in physical life & that's what they thought I'd meant; it's a "left of the dial" comedy format, taking serious, or dark, subject matter & making light w/it in a humorous way. I found Good Girls Revolt - also, same time period in history, to be more captivating.

I enjoyed Safe but thought the two above were better, especially The Five.

I was thoroughly engaged w/it. Excellent, very well-done w/terrific cast/performances...Cynthia Erivo has already received buzz about Emmy. Courtney B. Vance in role of Aretha's father. - Kinda funny to see him again in the preacher role, though this isn't the preacher he'd played in The Preacher's Wife, that's for sure! Aretha's first husband is played by Malcolm Barrett - I knew he seemed familiar - he played time traveler, Rufus, in Timeless tv series. He looked different to me, - it was more through his posture, body language & speech that I thought it was him.

I just caught that the previous evening & yes, absolutely w/the scrumptious food - but, how to resist watching? Both the food & the scenery...not to mention Stanley - he's so charming, witty & delightful. Watched 2 episodes, 1st was Bologna & 2nd was Rome. Molto Bene!

A lot of it is shocking. Not an easy watch, but great drama.

    Thriller.
It's a British murder, mystery anthology series that ran from 1973-76.
I bought the dvd boxset a few years ago and only watched a few episodes. So I started it again. It's hit & miss, but I like it. Very of its time. Slow moving. An episode is 60-70 minutes but feels longer. There's a lot of silence, well the hum of analog. Videotape for internal shots, film for external. Shades of brown, orange & mustard yellow. And every British character actor of the era.

I must admit, I wasn't sure what to think of this series when I heard about it.....o_O

I laughed my butt off lol. :biglaugh:

I swear, it's a mix of The Orville, John Scalzi's Redshirts novel, and Family Guy. :D

I'm definitely watching more of this show when I get time. :agree:

Never did return to Genius: Aretha after the 1st nights' viewing, 1st 2 episodes - not that I didn't enjoy it, b/c I did - but, once I realized it was going another 4 nights for a total of 8 hours ~ No way...too big an investment of time for 1 biopic, no matter who. Ray (Ray Charles biopic) was done in 3 hours, as was Walk The Line (Johnny Cash) & Elvis (2005) miniseries. There is the theatrical Aretha film release this summer, w/Jennifer Hudson. But, it's too bad this miniseries wasn't cut, b/c I know after seeing that trailer, that if trimmed, it would've been more enjoyable viewing entertainment for me. I wasn't familiar w/Cynthia Ervio before. Jennifer Hudson, while I far from follow her career, I am aware of it & her popularity. I feel she's already very well ensconced in her own sound & don't see/feel her disappearing into the role as much (though I'm not sure I've seen her act). Oh well.:sigh:
