I'm moving on to Sneaky Pete. A con man on the run from a vicious gangster takes cover by assuming the identity of his prison cellmate, Pete, reuniting with his estranged family, that threatens to drag him into a world just as dangerous as the one he's escaping. Great first season. Premise was smart and well- acted. I found the next two seasons quite average. Like a lot of shows they ran out of ideas. At least that's my opinion.
Life (Damien Lewis, Sarah Shahi) Humans (Gemma Chan, Katherine Parkinson, Tom Goodman-Hill) Sense 8 (multinational cast) Timeless Invasion (originally aired after Lost) Limitless (from the movie) Reverie (Sarah Shahi, Dennis Haysbert) Forever (Ioan Gruffudd, Alana de la Garza, Judd Hirsch) Now & Again (Eric Close, Dennis Haysbert, Margaret Colin) The Catch (Mirelle Enos, Peter Krause, Rose Rollins, Sonia Walger, John Simm) Dead To Me (Christina Applegate, Linda Cardellini, James Marsden) Limited Series: Prey (John Simm, Philip Glenister) Liar (Ioan Gruffudd, Joanne Froggart)
Want to thank whoever it was above (sorry to lazy to look backwards & see who it was) for alerting me to the new reboot (pun intended) of Das Boot. Am watching the 1st season and finding it very enjoyable/gripping. I like how they have parallel stories going on, not all just what is happening on the sub but also some intrigue & interesting characters back on dry land at the same time. Definitely does the original series/movie justice which I did not think would be possible.
I 4get if I saw that in the theater or not back then. The whole thing is an artistic achievement in my book. The visuals, the sound, everything. Very claustrophic capturing the sub vibe. I was surprised to learn later though that it all came from a TV mini-series which they edited down to a single movie. I believe but can't recall for 100% that the re-release on DVD called "original uncut version" that runs like 5 hours is all the TV episodes cut together (?). Actually researching it now I think I am wrong there. There are so many versions released I can't decipher exactly what is what. I have the original DVD called "The Director's Cut" and the one that came later called "The Original Uncut Version" but there is a lot more out there now on blu-ray etc. Too much to keep up with. Anyways this new TV version is really good too (am still on the first season).
I’ve yet to see the theatrical cut on dvd / bD that I seen in the cinema. The open seas nautical scenes / strident sub clashing with sea swell were very impressive. Maybe time has diminished that or I’ve not seen all variants on dvd /bd. Not a happy ending, to be expected of course.
Well must admit True Blood was excellent, more a soap aka Sons Of Anarchy, but much better+ terrific soundtrack i wanna do bad things with you.
Latest ... Berlin Babylon. Just started watching seasons 1-3 ( dvd ). So far like the soundtrack. Not bowled over.. yet. Fine with subtitles.
Got the UK Shameless 1-5 seasons dvd box( cheap). Watched a few episodes, and a bit disappointed. Not that funny( as in Benidorm), maybe dated .. from 2004. perhaps check out the U.S. version.
Babylon Berlin: seasons 1-3 7/10 Don’t know why it’s (18), could have more decadence, very slow paced. A couple of the support cast i like ..Karl Markovics from “The Counterfeiters “and Benno Fürmann from “Anatomy”.
They just wrapped up the series. Do you netflix? They have all the seasons there, except the one that just aired- that usually takes a year, right when the new season is starting, but maybe sooner since there won't be a new season??? Hilarious- if you like dark humor.
U.S. version .. Don’t stream ( only when I consume large quantities of beer )... I’ll look out for Season 1 dvd.
They go on sale at times on Amazon. I got up to Season 7 on blu-ray, either $12 or a couple at $10. Or do you buy used? dvd only?
