Didn’t they make a folk duo record for Chrysalis? :)

Ask him his thoughts on a 60th Anniversary Tour. Is it better to leave a relatively successful 50th Tour as the final word on their original (still living) members being together on stage or should they roll the dice and try a 60th?

With the behind-the-scenes drama and outside influences when recording That's Why God Made The Radio, would he be open to an album for the 60th anniversary that's made just by the guys? Or even, does he think the other four would be on board for that? (Namely Brian of course, since I believe Mike and Al have indicated their desire for such a project already.)

Yeah the concept of a 60th anniversary tour is an interesting one.

Is the story about him rescuing Zevon from the Hollywood Hawaiian Hotel true? If yes, would he retell it?

It's slightly referenced in his tune "Desperados Under The Eaves" - And if California slides into the ocean, like the mystics and statistics say it will - I predict this motel will be standing... until I pay my bill.

When WZ and his wife would fight, he'd take refuge at the HHH. At one point he ran up a large bill he couldn't pay - and David pulled up his station wagon in the alley as Warren went out the window. After some success, he went back to make good on the bill - the hotel just wanted a signed copy of his record!

I think that tale is told in Crystal Zevon's biography "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead," but I'm not sure how DM got to know WZ - that would be a good question to open this topic up!

PS - Carl Wilson is one of many singing background vocals on said Zevon song!

The guy is hugely talented, I'd ask about some of his session work, maybe his late 90s Beach Boys return, battling HEP C, the Marksmen, , maybe some general guitar talk (fit for a layman natch) and of course any future plans BB related or not. Can't wait to tune in.

Ask him who came up with that 'toes on the nose' description of his playing in the notes to Surfing USA, and did he like that or think it was silly.

I'm sure he's tired of all the Beach Boys questions. Ask him something obscure, like how he got the guitar sound on The Moon's "Got to be on My Way."

Not particularly, but don't hold it against me. If the thread title said "What would you ask Beach Boy member David Marks?" I wouldn't have asked. He wasn't mentioned on the Beach Boys surf records I had as a kid.

Fair point. He’s a lesser known member for sure. But equally I’m looking for people who would want to ask David Marks a question, and thus already know who he is. Hope that makes sense!
