I haven't read anything about what's slated to be on this release, but are they talking about a live version of "Birds"? I had a bootleg that had one with just Neil and Graham singing. Frankly, it was pretty awful, with Graham coming in too loud and out of tune, and also messing up the words at one point.

Maybe they found a better rendition.

Or just more speculation — could it be this instead?

Sidebar, but I watched CSNY live at Wembley 1974 on youtube last night. A ragged, fat-arsed and complacent performance by four overpaid hippies for which they should have been bottled (they were given an ovation by an ‘easy’ crowd). Counting the bum notes would’ve made for an interesting drinking game. ......

You're saying that Nash should keep his opinions about Crosby to himself?

We would agree, wouldn't we, that every human occupies valued space - Susan or Paul? His/her presence or his/her absence alters the human landscape. Of course, some humans have been savagely detrimental to the world they touched, but the value of most humans, famous or not, talented or not, has been in carving out a meaning and purpose while they occupy their small space and time here. And their absence, famous or not, changes the chain, as well. That is life.

Lennon actually says "get" rather than the colloquial "git" (it wouldn't rhyme otherwise). Still the only time I've heard that.

100% agree. No malice intended, just an admittedly weak attempt at humor.

That’s just his northern accent. He says ‘git’.

It's regional, I reckon, and "get" is likely to be the original, being an old Scots' term of abuse, at least according to a dictionary of slang I own.

On the contrary, he's in exactly the right one to observe, the comment upon, the idol-worshipping of these four that's gone on for soloing now it's fossilized----see thread on 50th Deja Vu!?!?!

It would have probably never lasted due to the inter-band personality conflicts, but cutting Crosby loose in late '67 really ended up hurting the band creatively. He was just beginning to hit his stride as a songwriter on Younger Than Yesterday and continued his progress on The Notorious Byrd Brothers. The later Byrds albums could have really benefited from songs like "Guinnevere", "Laughing", "Traction In The Rain", "The Lee Shore", etc.

While those songs are really good, they would not have fit in with the Byrds sound, IMO. McQuinn probably would have never recorded them.
