I also don't like that they fixed "Someday" and whatever else they may have screwed with. LEAVE IT THE HELL ALONE!!!!
I'm more than skeptical. It's a hard pass unless, against the run of all expectation, this set wins hearts & minds at SHF.
I love that album, lovely performance, but I'm sorry to say that the recording of the Japan concert was better.
I'm sorry to hear that George Marino passed away 10+ years ago. Someone should inform Lee Loughnane, the original member who supervises Chicago's reissues, that there are other remixing/remastering engineers out there who are still alive and healthy that could do justice to their late 60's to 70's recordings.
The video posted above discusses how the first song played on the first show was doctored to fix a flub. They weren't the first rock band to play Carnegie.
The Beatles performed in Carnegie Hall in the 60's but Chicago was the first non-classical artists to have performed for six-days in the prestigious music hall. Carnegie Hall 6-day Live Performances CHICAGO (April 5-10, 1971)
Yes. Trust an engineer who has a river rock fireplace behind his mixing console for sound dispersion.
Find an old Columbia issue. They sold a lot of them, and it doesn't appear that many were listened to more than once or twice. (The boxes tend to be kind of lousy shape, but the records are fine).
I don't see anything that says this is a limited edition. If that is so, I bet you will be able to get it cheaper down the road. Then I am in, provided I don't read horrible reviews of it.
Sounds about like what they said about the CTA reissue that Jessup worked on. My guess is that if you liked that one, you'll like this one. And if not...
You're joking, right? If not.. https://www.amazon.com/At-Carnegie-...s=chicago+Carnegie+hall&qid=1617815725&sr=8-1
Finally, hear every minute of the Chicago Kazoos live at Carnegie Hall performance in all their glory. The 4-disc set from a few years ago is more than enough for me.
If they made it sound better than that 4-disc set, I would be interested. But I doubt Jessup would make anything sound better.
Can’t believe Rhino would allow Jessup near anything again after the CTA debacle. Certainly nothing with Chicago’s name on it. Luckily, at this price, I won’t be ponying up (Although the price per disc is hardly outrageous). I will await other’s opinions when it comes out, and then find other means of enjoying it if the sound is actually decent.
Learning the hard way through Jessup... There are many blind followers in Chicago FB Groups that accept everything as long as these words are written on the cover and ads.... "Remastered", "Remixed", "50th Anniversary", etc.
