Slidin' (EOB Remix) The remix is powerful, intense, frantic, and chaotic with an obscure touch. EOB's version is a trip to the dark side. Bravo!!! Well, if it's grown on you I will try again. My main gripe is that it's just 'meh'. You know? I'm annoyed because I saw the song as experimental anyway and lending itself to further possibilities. I mean, Macca's singing about flying through the air and he can see his body through windows in his hair and HELLO 60s LSD trip! And the guitar riff very much recalls the act of sliding. And there's that wonderful trippy solo with all those whacky noises and....the guy does not take his cue from that? He does nothing with it. Maybe he couldn't improve on the original. But as you've persevered with it Sargon, I will give it another go!
I'm honored that you would place my opinion in such high esteem. Being so initially opposed to this version, I totally get you here. I also think the original is the best. At the same time, this new version really took hold of me in a big way. Keep us posted on your take on this!
To throw in my 2 cents: While I really liked the Beck remix, I think the Slidin' remix is total crap. Had to stop after 30 seconds ...
It sure is, Lavatory Lil is the only song I liked from the very start! McCartney's original is more stripped down and just having fun while the one I posted is more produced, both are great. Those first 8 blasts of the Slidin remix lets you know some rocking is going to happen! Just imagine McCartney in his vocal prime ripping into this hot rocker!
Ed O'Brien delivers riotous remix of Paul McCartney's Slidin' in new release from McCartney III Imagined | Guitar World "The Radiohead guitarist's rendition transformed McCartney's track into a high-octane rock number, equipped with trash-y guitars, wailing vocals and a huge wall of synths"
Interesting that you’re just a little younger than I am though I’d been a fan since McCartney I in 70, went through all his evolutionary phases. I’d kill for that once Upon a long time ago single you have..This one was indeed a great song and video...I enjoyed most all Paul songs/albums ...some more than others ....and saw all of his three 20th century tours though saw two of his 21st century tours..I was amazed and even surprised he kept going in the eighties, nineties and seemed to have a come back in 22st century with his tours and albums...
Dude, I have to tell you that all your musical tastes really rock, fike and Radiohead and the more way out, non traditional Macca stuff, all my kind of stuff...I don’t know how old you are, but this boomer says you rock.
LoL I know what you mean, but to me that sounds like: give me more! Wow, I have listened to the new mix several times now and gave it some time to sink in. I like it much more than Beck's, this one enhances the bulldozer factor of the original, which I like. It certainly is much nearer to the original than Dominic Fike's brilliant Kiss Of Venus, but ... that's what makes such an album interesting, it's very diverse. Yes. Oh yes. Pump up the volume.
That Macca in the Alan Shepard astronaut space suit pic is classic..,more of those with model Jeanne shrimpton in 65 vogue American mag. A classic sixties pic..complete with his the proverbial sixties cig...all smokers had then.
Yeah think I remembered that avedon took these famous pics...Arnold, you’re always on hand supplying those foxy model with Macca space suit pics...lol.
