Glad that Jimmy Pardo will be providing commentary. Without commentary from either Jimmy or Whoopi Goldberg, the set would definitely be missing something.

This is big and I want it but I am afraid of the mastering. Most of the current Chicago discs are tooo loud for my tastes.

I can't get excited about this at all. Big Chicago fan but after not only the 50th Anniversary issue of CTA but the "Live" box set and the sound on that collection, they are going back to Jessup again and I just don't get it. After all the feedback on CTA I guess they just did not care about the negative feedback.
how does that saying go...burn me once, shame on you, burn me twice shame on me!

For “The Great Unwashed” including myself, why does the name “Tim Jessup” create disdain with certain Members?

    Something under $10.

  14. Interesting that they chose cd format instead of a couple blu rays or dvds?

I would like to have this if the mastering isn’t botched. That’s a high price tag for a blind buy on a Tim Jessup product... I hope he surprises all of us.

    Thank you.

Doing a Forum Search of “Tim Jessup” shows seven pages of matches, such as:

Did Jessup autotune the protesters on Prologue? If so, I'm in!

That was almost two years ago. Good to see that time does indeed heal all wounds.

You are referring to the Rhino Chicago CD Remasters that were released in 2001. I agree that they are loud and compressed and thus ruining even the tonality of the sound.
They were remastered by Donelly under the supervision of Lee Loughnane.

If that's the case, then everybody handling Chicago's material nowadays is completely nuts. I'm only getting this if July turns out to be a slow month for purchases. Otherwise, I'll hold out unless there's a general release down the line where the price goes down significantly.

My 2nd copy purchased in 1974 while working at Sam Goody shows a price of $9.88, so that would be with my discount. Goody used to mark the lower right hand back covers with any sale price in case it was returned. Does this all mean anything other than the new set costs a lot more.

Steven Wilson did a long interview for Bob Lefsetz' podcast recently. And in that interview, he indicated that the band didn't like his mix/remix. In other places, the band has indicated they were happy with the CTA remix. It's pathetic, but there you go.
