I never got into John Lennon until I heard the remix of Working Class Hero on Ytube ( which was released 4 years ago !) I have to say it made me a fan and I bought the album!
Just arrived and giving it a listen. This might be something I am doing wrong but the DTS 5.1 mix only seems to play through the front speakers. On the other hand I get full surround from the Atmos mix even though I don't have an Atmos processor. Very weird. Anyway, that aside it sounds great so far.
I’m sure this has been asked here and there before, but does anyone make a protective outer plastic sleeve/bag that can cover a box of this size? I’ve put together home made covers, but something purpose-built would probably be easier to use. Thanks. Mark
Yeah $70 for two LPs is a bit much. The Who for $35 with the big poster is what POB should have cost. That's why I went with the CD Blu-ray box and am skipping the records. I have four original US pressings one from the UK and one from Greece.
I’ve had a similar experience. In addition, with the raw studio mixes, although the Blu ray only has options for stereo, I’m definitely getting 5.1, with piano and drums in the rear speakers for Mother, for example. All very strange!
Twitter listening party tomorrow https://twitter.com/johnlennon/status/1384431922152153090 #TimsTwitterListeningParty
Yeah I first noticed the splice when it first came out on CD. For some reason never noticed it on the original LP but of course I do now.
I read the directions and sounds real cool. But is this the right album? In the end people will be crying and exhausted from screaming at each other. BTW JL/POB is one of my all time favorites.
Unless I missed it-can someone inform me;are the POB tracks on Gimme some truth the same in mastering/mix as those on the this release....
I assume you're referring to the vinyl. I agree. Very disappointing. It sounds very blaring and distorted. Surface noise not too bad but it's there throughout. I put on my MFSL copy, WAY BETTER and super quiet. I ordered the box set with delivery due today. Maybe the Bluray will sound better. And I was gonna pass on the vinyl (I'm a completest but not a super completest) . but went to one of my local record stores yesterday and there it was staring me in the face. With a $50 gift certificate I couldn't resist. What a waste. But maybe it's just my copy??

Is Who Has The Wind the original mix, or the Ultimate Mix from last year's single? Or was that even a remix to begin with?
Yes, John told George Martin to figure out how to put the two different takes together, even though they were recorded in different keys . Amazingly George figured out how to do it but once you hear George’s edit point at the one minute mark you can’t unhear it. Wait a minute . “Working Class Hero”? Never mind.
