Sam Cooke spinning now, just finished LP1 side 2. I really like it so far, no issues with the pressing beyond some dirt, both records flat and stuff. The sound is a bit uneven between the songs, which can be expected from a compilation with material from this periods. The quality is also a bit up and down IMO, but much more up than down. There's a really strong stretch at the end of side 2 with Good Times, Shake, Yeah Man; no way to sit down during that spell!

Not the best sound ever overall, but a very enjoyable release, even more so at~£14! Thanks again @Arknine :)

Re-mastering by: Ray Staff at Air Mastering, Lyndhurst Hall, London

At the pimply age of 15, Surrey-born Anthony "Top" Topham stepped onto stage in May 1963 at the Eel Pie Island Club in Twickenham with his new blues-wailing band - THE YARDBIRDS. A few months later he was replaced with ERIC CLAPTON and after that a certain JEFF BECK and JIMMY PAGE also joined that volatile crew. When you consider what a staggering influence CREAM, BECK and LED ZEPPELIN have had on everything in rock then and now - it's a damn shame that Top Topham got musically lost in the mix somehow and has never been given the catalyst credit he so deserves.

    Top Topham

Ascension Heights - Pure Pleasure Blue Horizon 7-63857 (180g vinyl)

This LP’s rarity value alone commands attention: Topham was the Yardbirds’ founder guitarist, who had to leave the band because he was only 15. By 1969, at the age of 22, he delivered this solo LP, a long-forgotten take on the blues, far removed from the Yardbirds. Despite its Blue Horizon pedigree, it’s not of the Brit Blues school per se and is a stylistic mish-mash, more akin to Andrew Loog Oldham’s covers of the Stones’ canon, but its worth to Yardbirds hard-core is unparalleled. If you could find a mint original, you’d have to part with £100+. After Topham’s parents made him leave, he was replaced by one Eric Clapton. The rest, as they say…

Reflections, a new album featuring “reworkings” by Ólafsson and other contemporary artists - alongside several of the Icelandic pianist’s unreleased Debussy recordings.

The Reflections project launches on 25 September with the world premiere of Hania Rani’s reimagining of Debussy’s ‘La Damoiselle élue’. Her score places Debussy’s sublime music within a meditative electroacoustic soundscape.
