What were your previous speakers? I’m interested in the KLHs and have seen the two YouTube reviews, but I’m curious to know how they hold up against other speakers. They don’t seem to be available here in Denmark yet.
I personally have had lots of Chinese built gear...but i really feel these and the JBL L100 & L82 should be built in the USA to me its not about the quality its about the prestige and being proud of a speaker with a history like this...just my thoughts but i get it tho...
This sounds exactly what I'm looking for considering I collect a ton of black metal, shoegaze and otherwise "mediocre/poor" sounding recordings along with the more "audiophile" stuff.
The Lintons overpriced at $1200? Couldn't disagree more. They're beautiful speakers and a steal at that level.
I had to make an account and chime in on this. I own a pair of these new KLH Model Fives (I'm also a KLH dealer) and these are real mahogany veneer. I have an office full of custom built furniture made out of sold mahogany and these speakers are without a doubt real mahogany (veneer).
That was definitely my impression of AR earlier on in his Youtube endeavors. Seems to me he may have “found his legs,” so to speak in recent reviews. A bit hyperbolic still but seems more honest in his assessments than some others.
Hi Anyone heard / own these: Elipson Heritage XLS15: Elipson unveils Heritage XLS15 speakers Seem very similar to the new KLH 5's in reto looks
They are really good sounding musical speakers. They are not super high resolution audiophile reference monitors. They are more forgiving with a big warm presentation that just fills the room with captivating enjoyment. They are the kind of speakers the whole family can appreciate. They have detail but it's not analytical or harsh. They have bass but it's not boomy or exaggerated. The model five are just a big clean smooth sound with sold tight bass punch and excellent mid-range presence.
With the Elipsons you're getting pretty awesome 3-way for the price of a 2-way (think JBL L82). Hope they find a good dealer network in North America.
The descriptions of the sound coming out of the new Model 5 speakers seem to describe what I hear from my Model 5 speakers built in 1968. They were recapped about 10 years ago. Terrific speakers.
The downside of the Elipson's is a plastic artificial wood veneer. KLH look the real deal. Elipson are 12" woofer and KLH 10". Stands cost extra for the Elipson but they are slightly cheaper in Europe. Elipson are ported while KLH are infinite baffle. Will sound a bit different I would predict.
