The 3D Blu-ray of Iron Man 3 wouldn't play on my 3D Blu-ray player(it blamed my lack of updates) . Apart from that everything played fine.
Found a couple of Laurel & Hardy features today, 99p each in a Garstang charity shop - Way Out West and Our Relations.
I went back to the same shop and picked up a third L&H DVD I'd seen on the previous visit- A Chump At Oxford. Almost ashamed to say that I also came out with a George Formby movie, Get Cracking, again 99p - even as a child I found Formby's movies, songs and humour corny. To watch once and then re-donate, I expect.
The Insider 99p. I hadn’t watched this since seeing it at the cinema when it came out. Both Al Pacino & Russell Crowe are phenomenal.
I see some cool DVDs once in awhile, but I don't really buy DVDs anymore. I'm more interested in vintage formats like VHS or C.E.D.
Well, not a thrift store exactly but at the trader shed at our "dump" (transfer station) someone left a sealed copy of the Criterion pressing of "Nanook of the North" on DVD for me to find and take home. Odd thing to leave but I'm happy. -s1m0n-

Not from a charity shop, but found a few DVDs being given away on a garden wall: • Man of Steel (2013) • Oblivion (2013) • Taken 2 (2012) • Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps (2010) • The Bourne Legacy (2012) Anything worth seeing here? And will the Taken and Bourne films make sense without seeing the earlier films in the series?
It’s a ho-hum selection. Nothing amazing, but a few that are worth a look. The earlier Bourne films are much better than Legacy, which doesn’t star Matt Damon. You could probably get through it without too much head scratching, but it would certainly help if you were familiar with the basic outline of the series.
The Bourne series is really good. I’m generally a classic/arthouse kinda guy, so you wouldn’t pick me as the target audience for these films, but I enjoyed them a great deal.
I haven't seen any of these films, so I can't comment on them... However, I can make this comment: Even if they turn out to not be your cup of tea, at least the price was right.

These were in a 3-for-£1 offer, so I paid £2 for the lot. Never seen any of them before. Any thoughts? • Dirty Harry (1971) • The Hustler (1961) • The Insider (1999) • Sleepers (1996) • The Heroes of Telemark (1965) • Leaving Las Vegas (1995)
Dirty Harry and Heroes of Telemark are classics, you can probably add the Hustler but I don't think I've ever seen it. Don't know Sleepers or The Insider. Leaving Las Vegas might be the best thing Nick Cage ever did. All in all, you'll have yourself a good weekend!
Picked up in a 3 for £3 deal today: Potiche DVD with Catherine Deneuve and Gerard Depardieu; Beast (2017) with Jessie Buckley and Johnny Flynn; Sansho Dayu by Kenji Mizoguchi. This is a 2 X DVD with Blu ray set and also includes Gion Bayashi too. Really looking forward to seeing this on blu ray.
