Might be worth a try. I went to another one closer to my house. They had some but not like the other one.

I ran into the local Big Lots this afternoon, and they had a few new titles on the shelf, so I was able to buy "Rawhide" season 2, both volume one and two, "Bonanza" season three, volume one, and season nineteen of "South Park" ("South Park" was on Blu-Ray, the others on standard DVD).

I still haven't made it to the Big Lots that's out of town though....

I've got to track down the entire season sometime... The ones I listed in my earlier post are just a few episodes per disc.

Bought my first dvd in an absolute age recently - Kino Lorbers ‘The Good The Bad And The Ugly’ from 2017 (I wanted the original mono audio). Absolutely loved it. Ordered Fistful and For A Few Dollars More from KL straight after seeing it. My 2003 MGM boxset is now charity shop bound.

  13. Just bought George Harrison "Concert For Bangladesh" under sufferance as I would have expected a Bluray by now but sadly there isn't one.

Also picked up "Living In The Material World" as although there is a BD of that its not worth three times the cost of the DVD in my book!

These days DVDs are strictly a last resort for me.

I can certainly understand wanting newer movies (post 1980s) on BluRay discs but I don't see where older movies and TV shows would benefit from the high resolution (esp. early 1960s and prior). Maybe there's more room for bonus content.
One thing that bugs me about BluRay is that there are no region free players that I know of. I buy CDs and DVDs from all over the world. If I have a legitimate copy of a video and I paid for it from whatever country, why shouldn't my player play it?

I have a region unlocked DVD player - is there not the same option on certain Blu-ray players?

I've had about a half-dozen BD players that bypass Wee-jon Kodes. They're not a rare item.

Dollar Tree had a window banner for DVDs. Local DT closed in Jan. and moved a few doors down to larger digs. DT is absolutely in dire need of merchandise. Pandemic & poor people have been wiping out whole sections. The DVD sale, which probably was filled for Saturday release & Sunday ad-only about two dozen on the floor. I was gonna pass, but a 4 movie pack from Mill Creek about horses caught my eye because it actually had reel features. Casey's Shadow, with Walter Matthau & Alexis Smith, directed by Martin Ritt ,whose next film would be Norma Rae. Even with this pedigree, the main reason why I bought was because Patrick Williams did the music. Four films for a buck- the one I wanted was the 25 cent bargain of the day.

I still buy them. I recently got the entire series of the 70's TV show "Emergency!" in a DVD set.

    Yep, I'm that old!

They're significantly more expensive than an all-region DVD player.

I agree, but a DVD & BD in comparison BD always wins out in my book, but of course there are exceptions...
