Thanks, still learning how to use it, lol
Makes sense, that is fixed, eff L is variable.
Looks like about the same result.

Have not had a chance to install my fluid damper yet. Got the black for my 1210GAE, noticed the paddle is silver. Did everyone who ordered the black version get silver paddles?

I am back to the screws fastening down the platter. Definitely better this way.

The screw platter thing is just for the G/GAE, correct?

    Yes.
The platters of the GR/MK7/1500C are permanently mounted onto the magnet instead.

OK, I never messed with the platter on my GR so just wanted to make sure I could keep it that way.

Speaking of which, for any G/GAE owners out there that do have this option, I cannot think of any good or rationale reason why you would have your platter unscrewed/unfastened.

I don't know, once I had found the proper placement for my turntable, I didn't need to remove the platter all the time so I bolted it down.

    Just confirmed my alignment.
    Spot on Lofgren A/ Baerwald
    Perfect on my CartAlign

I confirmed the offset with a caliper measuring the difference in setback to each screw, difference ~0.4 mm.
    0.4 mm / 12.7 mm ~ 1.8 degrees + oem 22
    23.8 degrees, spec 23.66

    Listening time :)

I have the silver damper for my GR but I think - I could be wrong - that the paddle always is silver.

Yes, I heard back from Kevin and he confirmed all the paddles are silver. I could have sworn I saw pics of them and they were black, but oh well.

Chambers (Bass on Top) and Tyner (Tender Moments) both say it sounds better.
Better localization of highs and sharper attack on lows.

Sounds better to even my tin ears.
If you're into playing around try the Lofgren A/Baerwald (I think they are the same?) give it a try. Easy enough to go back to the Technics jig alignment.

    average RMS 20% lower
    Peak, almost 30%
    That should be audible?

Just picked up that 1200G from the Music Room. Any headshell recommendations for a Dynavector? I was thinking the Ortofon LH-9000?

    do your homework.
    stock headshell vs. the ortofon:
    cartridge height
    headshell height offset
dial setting for VTA - range and cartridge height
mass and system resonance with cartridge

I wonder if the stock coming in now made in Malaysia..Seems to be the case .... Someone in my FB Technics group just got a GR made in Malaysia. Take this with a grain of salt but he said the start button is janky :(... hopefully it’s just a one off and not a sign of things to come. It could very well be a one off let’s hope !!

I have a black paddle. Kevin made a some out of delrin initially, but said the cost didn’t make sense so he reverted to all silver aluminum for the paddles.

Is there an issue using the headshell that comes with the table??

This is a turntable that will be shared by a few members of the family. I plan on putting a lower cost cart on the stock headshell and my 20x2 on something a little more upscale.

So every time someone not you wants to play a record you're going to change the cart and rebalance and adjust the tonearm? Ok...

I tired the LH-9000 and found it didn’t work very well. First, the VTA was thrown off too much and I couldn’t level the cartridge because of the height difference. Second, it did not fit the collar well. I needed to repurpose a rubber grommet from a Concord cartridge to get it to fit tightly enough. I just ended up returning it and buying another stock headshell.

They could just do what I do and have a particular amount of bluetack on each headshell so I don't have to mess about and can just swap them on and off the tone arm...
But then I did this partly because I'm blind, mostly because I have several cartridges for 78s and who wants to mess with weights every time?

Yes - all new paddles are silver alu. Spray paint with satin black matches perfectly.
