U.S. Apple Records .. Very RARE example of the ''blue title'' color variant.
Blue with black thin border. The regular brown issue also has the black line
variant . This example is available from Perry Cox now. Photo archive.

[IMG] Pretty sure this was intended as a tour blank when Bob Cato designed it at CBS in 1968, around the time of DANCE TO THE MUSIC. But it likely only made it to the proof stage or the few that were printed got scrapped because most of the venues in the psychedelic-ballroom circuit did their own poster marketing. No one in the band seems to remember it (though they remember the photo session which was used on other things). Great piece of art direction and graphics - one of Cato's best.

    Y I K E S !!

The Fripp-Wilcox crew have taken it to the limit this week.
2021 sees RF w/ mohawk, and Toyah all perky for the situation..
What's going on in the mind of the Fripp ?

Had Bowie Bonds on my mind for some reason.

Found an old Pullman Group ad mentioning them.

[IMG] Another favorite - a prototype/proof promo poster for Scott Walker's 1969 classic SCOTT 4. Believe it was designed at Scott's request during the brief period when he was between managers; having just parted ways with Maurice King but not yet signed on with Ady Semel. The Philips brass in the UK likely took one look and went...'uh...no.' Think this piece came from Scott's mom, Betty Engel's estate, as she'd saved a lot of items relating to her son's career but don't think any other copies exist.

An update on the auto-pen /ink stamp merchandise from Van the Scam.

His management company has said that "all signatures are authentic and genuine". This is blatantly untrue - they are all authentic and genuine ink stamps; there are eight different models of stamp that have been used. Even the very limited number of very expensive test pressings from his own website have these fake signatures, as do the "signed" lyric sheets that come with the vinyl bundles.

Anyhow, I contacted Amazon on its chat facility to explain that they were selling goods that are not as described which contravenes the Sale of Goods Act. They immediately gave me a full refund and told me to keep, discard or give to charity the CD, i.e. a standard response. I pressed them further to remove the "signed exclusive" tag on the listing.

With a fair wind, I should have an exciting Dylan rarity to share with you all next week.

This one is truly weird. It's well-known, I think, that the songs on "Blood On The Tracks" were speeded-up (more or less by 2%, but it is not consistent) to make it more "bouncy" for radio play.

But the single version of "Tangled Up In Blue" was speeded-up again after the song had already been speeded-up for the album! It's the same on the U.S. stock single and the U.K. stock single and it is positively painful to listen to Bob-as-chipmunk. The additional speeding-up must surely have been an error. The B-side of the stock singles, "If You See Her, Say Hello", is presented in its album form with no additional whizz for the single.

They want verification of my age so I won't be watching. Sure sounds interesting though!

Wow. We'll they did warn us, didn't they?

Can't say I'd ever live to see the day ol' Robert would just about stroke out doing a Prodigy cover.

I promised you rare Dylan this week, so here we go. This just arrived this morning, from Osaka. The sleeve is EX+, the vinyl NM, possibly unplayed.

This completes my Mr. D.’s Collection series. Here are all three volumes together. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen a photograph of all three like this before now.
