The very worst possible choice. Ginger said as much in his book. On par with Kenji Suzuki - there's a live album with Anton Feir from the late 80's or 90s The board is likely the radiocast of the late show. There's also a few generations down video of the complete show from Japanese tv
Back then I surmised that bc must have worked for Him for free. Question Of Time was a noisey record without much going for it too. I really don't know.
I actually have no problem with his playing at all unlike donohed. In fact I think he is quite the accomplished axe slinger. I remember picking up his first album Never Look Back when it came out and he was heralded mightily in guitar mags. He was hailed as the next wunderkind/wonderkid (he was only 18 years old when that album came out, and his playing won him that job with Bruce/Baker - again at only 18 years old!!). I did not get to see any of that tour unfortunately but wanted to. Think they played in Philly at the Chestnut Cabaret but it sold out. I should have gone anyway since I have gone to many sold out shows without a ticket including at that very venue and have always found a way to get in. I don't recall the details though, maybe I could not go to that show. A friend of mine that did go said he thought he was better than Eric Clapton. I still have the OH BOY label bootleg from the Bottom Line, NYC 12/7/89 show (entitled Almost Cream). Been years since I listened to it so afraid I cannot recall anything specific other than I believe I thought it was great. I have Blues' first 3 albums but think he has come out with a few since then that I do not have - checking wikipedia seems like he jumped from being an instrumental rock god-type player (he even joined Poison for a while - blech) to mostly working in films/TV/production/etc although has done a bunch of session guitar work. Perhaps to appreciate his playing you either have to be a guitarist yourself, or dig his more aggressive style of play than say EC.
Interesting story below. And I may have mispoke above - he might only have been 16 years old, not 18... Blues Saraceno's amp-blowing reminded Jack Bruce of something Hendrix would do | earofnewt.com An excerpt: The elder Saraceno also built his son an amplifier, a one-of-a-kind piece of equipment that Blues uses more than any other amp. Fortunately, he wasn’t using it when he went to audition for the Bruce/Baker gig in New York City—it was somebody else’s amp that blew up. “I walked right in, plugged in, and cooked the amp right off,” Saraceno says with a laugh. “And I figured for sure that was gonna be the demise of my audition. But Jack was into it. He said it reminded him of somethin’ Hendrix would do. “Then he said, ‘Let’s play some songs,’ and I didn’t know any of his songs, so I thought that would make matters worse, but he liked that even more! So I just jammed with him, and we played forever—I didn’t think I’d ever get outta there, actually. It worked great, and they said, ‘Okay, thanks for your time, man,’ and I split. I figured, ‘Hey, at least I can tell my parents that I jammed with the guys from Cream,’ you know? “Then when I got home, I got a call, and they said, ‘Hey, man, you should come on down and play with us some more, but this time learn some songs.’ So I learned a coupla songs and I showed up, and that was it.” So basically Jack & Ginger already heard of him through his storming the instrumental rock guitar world at the ripe old age of 16, invited him to audition, liked his playing, and invited him to join "Almost Cream".
Yes, sure he is competant, accomplished, but for my tastes noisey and way out of his element alongside the masters Ginger and Jack. Comparing him to a player like Clapton is too much though; it did not strike me as soulful playing. I took a train and saw them at Toads Place in New Haven as well. On the sidewalk after the show i was asking around if anyone was driving back to n.y. Some kind folks there gave me a ride to a bus stop in Queens and I got a scab van to right around the block from my house. I climbed through the student union building's window at a sold out Tuna show once ! NCC, around 1989 ?
Yesterday I bought the 2LP Set locally for $79.99 AUD and was wondering if it has it's own thread here on the SHF. Unfortunately disc 2 is warped (despite playing fine) and wonder if any buyer's also encountered this same flaw?
He has 1 more sealed copy but wants to see the degree of warp. That said it seems he will refund me if needed but will not open the other copy to check that LP 2 is flat.
Perhaps it was mentioned before that the German udiscover has the 2lp live set in stock for 29.99 Eur.
Just got around to actually comparing this new vinyl with the cd counterpart that I have for you ( surely the same new source for the farewell cd collection ) ; I may as well just sell it back off, as my original intention was : my cd has so much better, clearer sound than the new vinyl, and louder, but in a good way. The record has the sound of a recreation audio made of a 1940s or 50s two way radio, lowfi war movie soundtrack. I'm once again wondering how they could have blown it so bad with this release. My cd version doesn't have Buddy Miles introduction

No Buddy Miles intro, is your CD not official and from the 4CD box?
That's correct. I'd gotten it through a trade ....... around ...... 4 years ago ? Each of the other tracks matched up with the lp's, though.

I just got a deal on this on the Forum (the blue vinyl, I assume? Polydor 350 753-5) and am listening to LP 1 now. I'll let you know if LP 2 is warped. edit: It's ever so slightly warped. Nothing I'd personally make an issue out of. I have a Highway 61 Revisted where the warp was driving me batty, I put it under books for a week, and I think I'm giving up and living with it.
So the only official source you are comparing to the new 2LP Blue Vinyl LA Forum is the 1969 Goodbye vinyl?
Well, last night i only compared samples of the new vinyl with the ' new ' source disc that surfaced a few years back, that in all likelihood is identical and what was used for the official farewell set. The difference between the old source and the lately one has been, and is in, debate already. I bought the new vinyl expecting a more analog sounding release of the new source, but it sounded poorly to me. I'll compare again, and I guess check Oakland and San diego, ? whatever cities they are.
Incidentally did either of the black inner bags have strong creasing that potentially may have created taughtness for the contents?
Plays fine but it is somewhat noticeable and a bit disappointing for a brand new $80 AUD LP. The seller is happy to refund me though has a 2nd copy but won't open it to check the records. That said I stated that if he opened it I guaranteed I would take the best looking of the 2nd disc so he would either way only be left with 1 open copy but he's not playing ball as far as that goes!
I don't know you at all, but if it was me, I'd probably just learn to live with it. That said, I think any appreciable warp (a subjective standard, I guess) should be allowed an automatic return. I mean, it's supposed to run flat.
