Wow. This interview with Apollonia Kotero (co-star/love interest in PR) was more insightful than I expected.
Interview with Duane Tudahl, author of Prince and the Parade and Sign O' The Times Era Studio Sessions: 1985 and 1986 (Prince Studio Sessions)
Random but can i say: I love the way the synths swell and counter the melody of "Little Red Corvette" something satisfying about it. Prince was one of a kind, genuinely. RIP.
The Peach & Black Times (Naomi Holwill, Calum Waddell) If you have the 2019 special edition Blu-Ray/DVD of Sign you'll probably have already seen this accompanying behind-the-scenes documentary. If not it's a nice treat. I had no idea Prince that hard. Streamer (watch pop ups).
Back in the day, I recorded the Sign O The Times album onto a C-90 with slight song re-arranging to fit this at the end of side 2. [Side one ended with "We'll try to imagine what silence looks like...."] It just fit. And used to trip out my friends when we would listen to it...... [somebody get grandma a fan...]
That's great. I've made tapes like that. Awesome concurrence of material and time. Feels like you're in a zone. Just ain't the same with CDs. No magic. Wish I'd transferred some of those old cassettes to disc, though!
what!? i just saw this. clarence was a dear friend of mine and my family since his mod squad days. i knew him very well. clarence williams III was an absolute prince among men and was my friend. i am both saddened as well as embarrassed to have to hear of this hear and now. at this late date. RIP clarence. thank you for la scala and picking up that tab and your all inclusive magnanimous brilliance. whew
Is this the German import deluxe edition of the SOTT movie? And if so, does it play on North American DVD/Blu-ray players? I really want this, but obviously not if it won't play on my player.
I had a similar C-90 cassette taped from my SOTT CD, only mine had "Shockadelica" at the end, taped from my "If I Was Your Girlfriend" cassette single. Love having the big SOTT boxed set. Now, I've got all of my favorite SOTT b-sides and previously boot-only songs all in one place, and in glorious sound. Not a day goes by that I don't miss him. But the Estate's incredible handling of his legacy makes the blow a bit softer. It is truly a great time to be a Prince fan.
