Got a 2CD Classical Fatbox from 1987 in the post today - still had the foam inserts in - thankfully it hadn't fused with the CDs - panic over!

Minor miracle! Which label? I know from experience that Philips foam is death.

I did have some surviving foam in my chazza-found copy of WG Polydor ABBA: The Singles - The First Ten Years, but I binned it pronto.

I removed all of mine except for a Japanese set. I believe Japanese foam doesn't disintegrate, but I have my doubts.

Another fruitless day yesterday apart from picking up the Radiohead TKOL RMX double CD for £1.50 and an old 80s CD of Sheer Heart Attack which sounds nice !!! Certainly better than the 2011 one I’ve got. Don’t see much Radiohead out and about, and certainly not that one. I’d forgotten it even existed.

Interesting. Label was EMI - Discs Made in Japan (for UK Market)
I just checked the few Discs I have that have foam pitting and they are W.Germany printed CDs on Polydor & Deutsche Grammophon.
I will keep an eye out for others to see if it's a rule.

Found over the last few days -

    'Enigma' soundtrack, John Barry-composed. 25p
The Very Best Of The Lovin' Spoonful. 99p
Two Gallants - What The Toll Tells. Never heard of this duo before, no idea what it'll sound like. 99p

    4 for £1 -
The Bangles and Gilbert O'Sullivan comps.
Ladysmith Black Mambazo - No Boundaries.
Keith Jarrett - The Köln Concert. Had never heard this before. Wow! Fantastic.

Looks like a bootleg copy to me. No reason why a promo CD with a cover identical to an existing release wouldn't also have the CD design itself also similar or the same, unless it's a CDR.

If you like piano music you're in for a treat with the Keith Jarrett.

On the other hand, if you hate piano music, that's the worst 25p you ever spent!

Already listened to it. If I'd known if it was going to be so good, I'd have paid full whack for a copy long ago.

well, yesterday was pretty slim pickings, but a last minute taxi service for teenkid ended up with me visiting some extra charity shops today, and yeah, things improved.
a very eclectic selection for £12.

Hot Chip - Made In the Dark
Angelo Badalamenti/David Lynch - Music From Twin Peaks
Area Code 615 - Area Code 615/Trip In the Country
Various Artists - Gather In The Mushrooms (Acid Folk Underground 1968-1974)
Flux Pavilion - Blow The Roof
**** Robot - From Cradle The Rave
The Herbaliser - Something Wicked Comes This Way
Jeff Lynne/ELO - From Out Of Nowhere
    Dido - No Angel
Death In Vegas - Milk It (2cd Best of/Remixes)
Various Artists - I Love Garage (3cd set)

ok, most chuffed about : **** Robot,Hot Chip, Death In Vegas (for the 2nd cd of remixes basically), and Flux Pavilion as i love electronic pop/dubstep etc.
however, the one that has really impressed the most so far is the 'Gather In The Mushrooms' compilation.
never heard of it, but on closer inspection, realised its a Bob Stanley compiled collection, so decided to grab it.
and after one listen, yeah,i struck gold (also, not cheap on amazon/discogs etc).
also, had never heard of Area Code 615, but read the inner notes and thought i would give it a go for a coin.
not my kind of thing normally, but a lot of fun at times (again, this is a bit of a score according to amazon/discogs !), hello Old Grey Whistle Test theme tune !
also, the Jeff Lynne/ELO album from 2019 for a coin.
i was going to let it go as i have the albums boxset, and thought that would be enough.
turns out its a cracking album - a lot more fun than i expected.

so, yeah, an excellent haul all in all.

for reference, here is the Gather In the Mushrooms track listing :

Gather In The Mushrooms (The British Acid Folk Underground 1968-1974) (2004, CD) - Discogs

i would love to see that out in the wild.
not a fan of the usual stuff from the band, but i can well imagine the remixes being my kind of thing.

I had a day off work so drove 45 minutes to a flea market - all cd’s were 50p each apart from Reggae Classics and The Clash which were £1.50 each. The Pet Sounds is the Mono and Stereo version.
    Really pleased with these.

Good haul! I also have a mono/stereo Pet Sounds, but mine has a green spine. Mono all the way, anyway!

Whoah, properly envious of the acid folk comp. And good to hear there's one less Dido CD cluttering up the racks! :)

got it to flesh out the 3 for £1 groove.
others were the flux pavilion and s**t robot cds.
(since when were we stopped from editing posts !?)
so, added that, as you know, for all the diss groove she gets, when hungover on a sunny sunday morning i dont mind some of her stuff.
and yeah, the acid folk thing was a bit of a catch i cannot deny.
worth it just for this brilliant track, which i have an edit of somewhere in the archive and is therefore bugging me

No Angel's a great album. I was really into Dido back in 2000-2003. I think chronic overexposure and the dull follow-up kind of did it for me.

Gather in the Mushrooms seems to be out of print, so sometimes goes for silly money on eBay. There was a companion set as well, as I recall. Wish I’d bought both at the time.

Nipped into my local this morning, picked the following pair for 25p each:

BB King & Eric Clapton - Riding With The King
Tanya Donelly - Beautysleep (at the behest of @Great Face For Radio )

My eyes almost popped out when I saw a digipack with "The Fall" on the spine, only to find it was a Norah Jones album rather than the deluxe edition of Hex Enduction Hour.

 I actually did get the 2 CD Hex Enduction Hour in a charity shop for £2 a few years ago.
