10 - Daniel Wylie

 

10 looks a bit like Justin Currie of Del Amitri, but don't think they were on Poptones. Wasn't Poptones' best seller the Hives?

 

now only the rules girl is left, part of the 70's South California scene , wrote one of Judy Collins best-loved songs, also co-wrote a song for Jackson Browne, worked as a background singer for James Taylor ,Little Feat and many others , also recorded a brilliant cover a well#known soul song

 

Can't remember the Hives being on the label, but I might be wrong

 

a pretty good album (although I prefer their 2nd album, which is without DW)

wonderful song and singer , her solo albums are definitely worth checking out (if you like this kind of music )

 

The albums they did after Dan left were both really good but I always felt they were better with him, it was his band after all. Enjoy the Melodic Sunshine was essentially a compilation made up from tracks from the first two CRR albums Deliverance and Panorama with three new tracks.

Cosmic Rough Riders was originally Dan's solo project anyway which became a duo with Stephen Fleming and he only put the band together to do a showcase gig for Alan McGee who was looking to sign him. In the end McGee wanted to sign the band rather than Dan on his own and he ended up stuck with people he didn't particularly get on with.

He's recently resurrected the name and the three albums he's done as Daniel Wylie's Cosmic Rough Riders are excellent, well worth checking out.

 

Thanks - I know the story and have followed Daniel on fb for a while - he has just released a new album Atoms and energy available through a new label, which seems to specialise in vinyl releases of Scottish artists
