Putting together my first higher end system after reading many posts here. I’m nostalgic for the look and sound of my dad’s 70s era stereo system that I grew up with.

Would appreciate any thoughts around this combination for my space and musical preferences:

    Klipsch Cornwall IV
    Yamaha A-S3000
    Technics SL-1200G
Hana EH (prefer to avoid a phono pre-amp)

My space is 14x28ft with high angled ceilings.

Mostly listen to rock, indie, metal, old country and old r&b.

Aside from vinyl, I’ll stream movies/music from an AppleTV 4K.

    Thanks!

I have no thoughts other than I'd like to hear it. All great pieces.

I would add a tube integrated just in case you have doubts about the Yamaha/Klipsch combination. But I want to hear it too.

Well done. My only thought is to explore more options for amplification. Speakers are rated at 102dB sensitivity, 8 ohms nominal. They're very efficient and can play loud with SS or tubes.

Have you thought about room treatments yet?

If the “vintage look and sound” is important to you, why not get some vintage gear?

With a budget in the $12K-$15K range, you could do worse with that setup but you could do better as well.

Not sure I understand this comment, the Yamaha has a MM/MC phono stage. Are you saying that the Yamaha MC stage won't work for the low output version of the Hana? If that's the case, you may be right since it seems to be optimized for pretty low output carts, others have complained about the 50 ohm input impedance.

Ignoring your preference, I'd be more inclined to get an amp without a phono stage and use a separate one that better matched my needs and preferences, much more flexible and usually better sounding, and more easily upgradeable as the system changes, the internal ones are often compromised. But the internal ones can be handy to have around too, and will be fine to get started.

Looks like a very nice system, good luck putting it all together.

    Thanks for the reply.

Mostly superficial but I’m hooked on the look of the large level meters on the Yamaha. Are you thinking it won’t get the most out of the Cornwall speakers?

I thought about room treatments but I don’t think I’ll be able to do anything that will fly with my wife since this setup will be in our main living space.

No, not at all. The looks are KILLER. And VG reviews on its performance. My point is these speakers are so efficient that they do well with lower power amps, I wasn't sure if you knew that. Plus,, tubes are often used with these speakers.
I think your choices will make an awesome sounding system.

I actually started there but got a bit overwhelmed researching that path. I’m also hoping to keep this hobby on the listening side and avoid the troubleshooting/repairs side if possible. :)

I read about this amp, it seems to be very well built and designed. Only thing is, it's upside down.

Outside of looks what makes you think this would sound like your dad system? Do know what he had.

That Thorens is in walnut is super sexy!
I really like the look of the McIntosh too.

    Both are very tempting.

Just personal preference, but I would never run Cornwalls with anything other than tubes.

If the vintage look was paramount in the amp, I think you need to look into Accuphase

LOL! I was thinking the same thing on the design of this being upside down.
