‘The Lord Of The Rings’ Goes On: Anime Pic ‘The War of the Rohirrim’ In Works – Deadline Okay but why anime though? Director Kenji Kamiyama is probably most well known for the Ghost in the Shell TV series, so it'll probably be great.... ...but why anime, though?
Cheaper than live action? I know anime isn't for everyone but it looks as cool as Castlevania does on Netflix I am totally fine with it.
I don't have an issue with anime. It is a very valid art form that can bring out things visually better than live action can in many cases. I just don't know about the story here. I never saw Helm's story as "a legendary battle which helped shaped Middle-earth". Did it change some things over time? Yea, but, when comparing it to other larger events that occurred in all the books, I just don't see much value there. Two factions of men who wanted power and land. All of it ending with Helm dead and frozen solid outside in the long winter. I guess they can add story to the horn that was blown during the battle of Helm's Deep with the orks when Salomon attempted to defeat the men of the north, but, in my opinion, that is such a minor element it doesn't matter much. His legend comes from him running around punching people to death (and, as some things hint, he ate people). I'll watch it, but none of the characters involved in this story really interest me much.
I have a hard time getting excited for this. I just don't see much substance of a story here. 2 people get pissed at each other and go to war during which a long winter occurs, and both leaders end up dead. I just don't see much to be enthused about.
Release[edit] The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim will be released on April 12, 2024, by Warner Bros. Pictures.[5] thank you! i'm sure i'll forget before then so i'll look forward to the thread notification to remind me!
It's absolutely a real shame. I more than loathe the way Netflix, Amazon and the rest of the US streaming companies are buying their way into anime. Cultural imperialism at its finest.
