Mike's channel is great! Learned how to play I Should've Known Better thanks to him. Anyone that loves The Beatles should check out his channel. He really dissects the songs so precisely and a great document to their guitar work

It Won't Be Long was an inspired choice for opening With The Beatles. I thought that from the moment I lowered the needle onto the first copy I bought of WTB back in ... 1973 I think it was. I loved the tune and the album then and still do now half a century later. But, in the context of 1963, only a tiny number of poprock bands and performers IMO could even hope to compete with The Beatles when they fired on all cylinders like this. It's no wonder Brian Wilson had to call an emergency meeting of his band when I Want To Hold Your Hand topped the charts in the US to ask "What are we going to do about this?!"

  3. It’s one of the best Beatle openers ever.

With respect, I tried for it to be not "another" Beatles thread, because it focuses on a discussion that shows deep knowledge and hopefully adds to people's appreciation of a song, and not just a bunch of comments being sprayed about.

As good as Mike is on Beatles guitar parts, this guy Galeazzo Frudua is the YouTube God of Beatles vocal parts. And they were way more amazing as singers than as guitarists.

(Oops - got to go to YT as be doesn't allow embedding of his videos)

That Beagles Do Beatles show I did yesterday would have been so much worse and so much more work without the efforts of these two YT Beatlemaniac heroes.

:kilroy: This Bobby Vee single, which came out at around the same time, has a chord progression that's similar in places:

Ok if anyone ever wonders why The Beatles made such a huge impression on the public when they got released, just listen to this and wonder no further.

I'd never heard this one until I got the mono CD box. One of the best early Beatles songs.

Not far off the chorus of IWBL. But the bridge and outro are the musically special parts.

Yet another day, yet another foolish SHF poster. Foolish because:
    1. He imagines he's earning coolness points by making this statement, when in fact he's much more of a cliché than anyone here who simply likes The Beatles and enjoys talking about them (oh, what a horrible crime against humanity that is!).
    2. He exposes himself as someone who's life is so empty that he has nothing better to do than go into threads with subjects he has no interest in just to post something negative. Personally, I'm glad I have a rich enough life that I don't have to resort to this.

I thought it was a straight lip-synch to the original studio track, but I didn't A/B this, so I'll trust what you guys say above.

Any documentation as to how this might have come about, or how an alternate mix might have been provided to RSG?

It doesn't sound like The Beatles at all to me..it sounds like a whole other band copying the backing track and superimposing it under the Beatles' vocals. Who, what, and why is definitely the question.

This video happened to pop up on my YouTube feed this morning. I didn't realize the verses had 7 bars instead ion the usual 8. That's part of what makes the song stand out.

Sounds like that to me as well. The 'sound' of the drums is too 'modern' to have been recorded in 1963.
    Nice job, whoever did it.
