Cracks me up every time I see the word "shagged" posted here in relation to a piece of physical entertainment media.

Well, after having several white bags sent my way (and no, I'm not referring to the extremely low budget escort service that I use) As I had mentioned previously, I was pleasantly surprised that I had received the recent Gary Numan in a rather thin, but proper record mailer box (sent by Amazon from the UK I think) but also today I just got my latest $9 record order from Amazon (Tones On Tail) in a bigger box! Granted, the record inside was not in a record mailer box itself, but someone had indeed taken the time to wrap the record in bubble wrap and then at least half heartedly threw in some of those inflatable pillow things (BTW, what I choose to use the pillow things for after the fact is my own damn business) So, all 'n' all I'm thinking that maybe FINALLY Amazon is getting the message from all the negative reviews specifically about the way they've been sending their records, let's hope so! :righton:

(Please excuse all the non-sequitur albums in the front row. I've been systematically running my records through my DIY ultrasonic RCM in sections, and those hafta be put away)

What are those sticky notes on the record cover?

Those show the albums that have been cleaned with my DIY ultrasonic RCM (there is a 'US' on the note) If further vacuum/rinse cleaning is needed with my other DIY RCM, I note that too, along with what solutions I used if multiple cleanings are needed.

For example, in the picture below, I really had to go over my Cannonball Adderley album with multiple solutions and cleaning methods - this is a pretty extreme case though:

In this case, the record was ultrasonically cleaned, then the large 'A' with the '15' in the lower left indicates that I used Audio Intelligence #15 with a vacuum/rinse. The "L'A" means that after than I used L'Art du Son cleaner with a vacuum/rinse, and the 'IPA' means that I used a mixed solution suggested by @pacvr in his 'Precision Aqueous Cleaning for Vinyl Records' with a blend of IPA alcohol, Triton X-100, & ILFOTOL with a vacuum/rinse. All vacuum cleanings followed by a laboratory regrade purified water #2 rinse. And, finally, the slanted 'B' with a line through it means that I used a special dense makeup brush with the cleaning fluids to provide more agitation before a vacuum/rinse.

But, FWIW, after going through almost 2000 of my albums using the ultrasonic cleaner, they've almost all come out very quiet and I've only had to set aside maybe 15-20 records that need further cleaning.

Heh, well, it honestly LOOKS more anal and detailed than it really is. Just basically to help me keep track of what I've done :) The record above really is an extreme example. I probably only have like a handful of those.

Thanks Bro! But, I don't put a date on it. That would be just WAY too anal! [IMG]

Have you played the Tones on Tail yet? Mine came today, double boxed...sounds really really good. Not a pop or tic....kind of giddy about this one for just over 8 bucks! ...and it tastes that much sweeter seeing that it skyrocked up to $11.72 today! :pineapple:

Heh, not yet :) But @black sheriff says it sounds great! I've been cleaning my last group of records today and listening to the new Gary Numan. Sounds awesome of course! Not as edgy and as aggressively Industrial as his last two, more laid back and Retro, but with $h...loads of mood and atmosphere. The guy can do no wrong as far as I'm concerned...

So far I have never had a problem with records from Amazon, which I am grateful for. The Tones on Tail does sound great. Many thanks to the o.p. for the tip.

My copy of Get Your Ya Ya’s finally showed up and it sounds great, especially since thanks to this forum it was under $14. Okay, well, it sounds as gnarly as my ancient copy did, but minus the popcorn in the microwave noise. I had missed the fine print that it was on clear vinyl so that was a nice bonus. It came loose in a box with the air bags but no damage at all.

I almost got up early for Record Store Day today, but there was only two things on the list that I wanted. Not enough to wait in line in the rain even though I usually get most of the stuff I want. This go round I’ll just pay the extra $10 to someone on eBbbuuba.

If today was not an expensive RSD day, that would be very tempting at $45.

Both that I receive came in original shipping box from RTI to Amazon, but the first time it was in a rather flimsy large Amazon outer box with too little air pillow packing and the original shipping box must have been moving around too freely as it had a decent sized corner ding that made its way to the box set itself. So they went back.

The replacement was in a much more appropriate outer box that actually said “This box was specifically optimized for your product” or something like that. It was a much better fit and the interior original shipping box was undamaged as was the box set itself. The replacement was shipped via UPS too, while the original was delivered by Amazon.

I told myself I was done with vinyl purchasing for a while after yesterday's RSD... but I went in on this (for $42.86!)
