Charlie just shared an updated version with a SBD cassette patch in place of the original AUD patch in Franklyn's Tower. The second set of this show is an absolute treasure. Set 1 also boasts some gaudiness.

I love 1969 but maybe marathoning it at the same time the Every Dark Star thread is in ‘69 is too much at once. If so you could just mix in some other shows/runs/eras as you go along to break things up a bit. Or maybe try the @ianuaditis thing where he goes through two or three different years at the same time so he can switch back and forth.

One could argue that's a good thing unless you were hoping for something in particular.

3/77 needs to be the next 77 release or I give up. Meanwhile, some idiot is doing donuts in the parking lot, so maybe it's too late.

I liked that post because you were having photo posting issues. I could tell you meant well.
I was kind of bummed K. Burns didn't dedicate an entire episode to the Dead's country/cowboy songs. Square.

And man, did he gloss over Garth Brooks or what? He didn't play "Friends In Low Places" and we didn't even get any Chris Gaines.

Dick's Picks Vol. 9, Set II.

I didn't get Prince out of that, but I was like "Why?" I first saw Chris Gaines on SNL, and I was like, "This is boring and sucks." And then a while later I found out is was Garth Brooks. I'm not a Garth Brooks fan--I just don't like how Ken Burns glossed over all the recent country acts, none of which I particularly like, but still. Gimme some dirt, some dirty laundry. I mean, Taylor Swift? Don't even tell me she doesn't berate underlings into submission. :D Kenny B. didn't pull any punches with George Jones.

Did Garcia get a mention in Burns documentary? I didn't see that part if he did.

If it's a guy, it was probably Richard Gossett. Otherwise Bonnie Simmons. What a fantastic station that was. A horrible day in the Bay when they got sold and switched to a country format. I'm convinced that Loma Prieta was a delayed response by Mother Earth to such a travesty. Thank goodness there were other options.

    FLIGHTCREW

The DJs were referred to as the "flight crew" with good reason. In the upper left corner you can see Dr. Johnny Fever himself, Howard Hesseman at KMPX, KSAN's predecessor, in 1967.

A hearty belly-laugh isn't the worst way to start a day, is it?

Just reporting a comment from someone who claimed to be there!
To wit: "Phil SAT DOWN (that's right, they brought out a chair) during the second set, Total boredom appeared to be the mood onstage." To which someone else replied, "I think Phil was just a tad too inebriated to stand."
But other people who were at 11/14/73 are silent on this subject, so who knows....

That jam is easily in my top 5 stretches of GD music ever. The Hunter matrix of this show sounds significantly better than the DiP, in case anyone hasn't heard it. It also has the complete first set -- it's not anything extraordinary, but it's also far from weak...it's pretty clear that they're on.

If anyone has a hankering for some spring '81, the latest Hunter matrix from 5/15 at Rutgers is worth your time. The first set is nothing too out of the ordinary, but the second set has a great Scarlet > Fire with an extended Jerry jam out of Scarlet, an excellent Estimated > Eyes with some unusual elements sprinkled in, and a quality post-D/S NFA > Black Peter.
