Groups who split in two

That's what I meant: Beatles became "Wings and Ringo's All Star Band" and "POB and TW." Not everyone has to see it that way.

 

Carmen and Bryson continued as Raspberries & Smalley and Bonfanti became Dynamite.

Women split into Cindy Lee and Viet Cong (whom later changed their name to Preoccupations).

 

The Raspberries were really Eric Carmen from Bucyrus Erie plus Smalley and Bonfanti from The Choir.

 

AKB48 splits in two (or more) on a regular basis. The group has a boatload of singers divided into 5 teams who could theoretically perform 5 concerts at different venues at the same time.

 

Alex Fergusson was in Psychic TV. Before that he was in Alternative TV with Mark P. who was always Splitting In Two.

It’s too confusing for me to describe.

 

Would Van Halen count? Sammy and Mike split off to form Chickenfoot, while Eddie and Alex remained in VH.

 

You could say Siouxsie & The Banshees split down the middle to become The Creatures (Siouxsie Sioux/Budgie) and The Glove (Steven Severin/Robert Smith) for a moment, although I believe those were always intended as side projects.

The Specials saw Fun Boy Three come out it when Terry Hall left. On second thought, I guess you’re right though because Horace Panter did leave The Specials and formed GP with RR and DW.

Those bands splintered so much and had so many crossovers at one point, it was almost incestuous.

 

Sepultura.

Sepultura lives on with long time members Paulo Jr (bass) and Andreas Kisser (guitar), as their main claim to the name.

Founding members Max Cavalera (guitar and vocals) and Igor Cavalera (drums) now play in Cavalera Conspiracy.
