Wow. I'm very surprised to see TE receive this treatment, if only because it's not one of their more famous albums or one that sold especially well (I think). The extras look good, particularly the SW mixes.
Mostly, except for that part of me that says, “Why the hell can’t they fit the Forbidden reissue in the schedule somewhere?!?!”
Because they expect a greater number of us to buy the Ozzy albums for the 12th time than they expect us to buy Forbidden for the 2nd time.
Is this going to be a 4 cd set? Steven Wilson remix of the original album? EDIT - I increased the size of the photo so I could read the label, so I have my answers now.
So how many reissues in the series does this make now, for those of us interested in beginning the process of collecting
holy crap!!!!!!!!!!!! i never thought it would happen, this is my 3rd favorite Sabbath album, but i know how most don't care much for it, so i never thought we'd get the deluxe treatment for this. I AM SO FRICKIN' HAPPY RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!
they really could pad out the discs quite a bit more though and wish there was a bit more to it, but i'll take whatever i can get!! now they need to just keep on going with these for EVERY SINGLE SABBATH ALBUM!!!
This will be the 4th of these boxes: Paranoid Vol. 4 Sabotage Technical Ecstasy There have been 2 disc deluxe (not "super deluxe") of several albums as well: Black Sabbath, Paranoid, Master of Reality, Heaven and Hell, Mob Rules, Born Again, Seventh Star, Dehumanizer. Maybe some other non-Ozzy, non-Dio ones as well but I don't care about those.
This will be the 4th "Super Deluxe" Paranoid was released in 2016 and rereleased in 2020 Vol. 4, Sabotage and now Technical Ecstasy in 2021. All are 4 CD sets. The S/T debut, Paranoid and Master of Reality all have 2 disc deluxe versions. Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules had new US 2 disc deluxe versions this year. Those two plus Born Again, Live Evil, Seventh Star and Eternal Idol all had 2 disc deluxe editions release in Europe about a decade ago. All are fairly easy to find except Seventh Star which goes for crazy high prices. No deluxes at all for Sabbath Bloody Sabbath or Never Say Die yet, as far as I know. EDIT: beat to it by the post above. Oh, and it mentions Dehumanizer, which I forgot.
Why bring in Steven Wilson if you're not going to go for 5.1? Is there something wrong with the original stereo mix? I won't be suckered into another one of these half baked Sabbath boxes.
Could be great. Please someone other than Andy Pearce doing the mastering. He's not done this band justice lately. Ample opportunity for a great surround mix by Steven Wilson. I hope that's in the offing.
I'm glad it's out there, but I'd only buy it at a steeply reduced price and only on vinyl. I like the album, but I prefer Never Say Die. I'd buy the box for Never Say Die, which probably confounds many. I'm waiting for that Hammersmith show...
