John Ritter died at St. Joseph's Hospital, directly across the street from Disney in Burbank, where they were shooting his TV series 8 Simple Rules. The attending heart specialist insisted that because a major part of Ritter's heart burst (an aortic dissection), they wouldn't have been able to save him "even if he had been on the operating table at the time." But because it was initially misdiagnosed, the hospital did wind up paying the family about $10 million dollars as a settlement. It is true that Alan Thicke had a very similar problem, also an aortic dissection. I'd like to hope that Bob Odenkirk's problem was a lot simpler and more treatable. Maybe more details will come out soon.
Stable condition. Not expecting him to do the hula hoop workout any time soon. But, hopefully he’ll be able to communicate sometime later.
I guess I'm struggling to understand how it's any of our business. The family has asked for privacy. All our medical records are sealed and we have expectation of privacy. Why do we need to know details of celebrities' medical conditions?
Natural curiosity when it comes to celebs, would be my guess. This is my first post about this, and I will say that I hope he's okay and I don't need details.

Isn't it just a primitive instinct to want to cover up one's illness? Like the wounded animal who doesn't want others to know he's wounded. There doesn't seem to be any advantage for a human to keep an illness like this secret. If people know you're sick, they're willing to support you or help you. A communicable disease might have stigma associated with it, but not other types of illness.
I think it has more to do with privacy issues and the implications of making health conditions known. Consider that insurers factor in risks of genetic and cardiovascular conditions that are hereditary and can impact the cost and availability of coverage. This can impact your children's coverage and employers have also been known to discriminate. It's just much better to keep your medical info private.
Yeah, I've been guilty of this myself, especially in cases of celebrity suicide--but that isn't a medical condition so much as the circumstances surrounding their depression.
On a completely lighter note, it said they were a little more than half way thru the last season so any changed or new predictions for the conclusion?
That's probably up to Bob. It's weird how I find myself being selfish about this whole thing, but I know it's human nature to want to keep our entertainers sealed in amber. When a person dies, it's their time. End of. That Bob is living, I know we want more Bob. I think the good news is that the quality of Bob's remaining life, or @Vidiot, too (since he had a few heart attacks), is very optimistic in today's age. That's what matters. The quality. A dear friend of mine had a heart attack at 43. The doctors went in and did the bypass and other goodies. He ended up having a great life with no restrictions. He died last year, at the age of 96. To him, he could have died later, at 66, 76, or 86, but the quality remained and he kept chugging along. When Bob is ready it will be better for Bob, which will be better for us.

Obviously he's supposed to be older here because it takes place after the events not only of BCS but of BB. Gilligan knew he had logistical challenge with regard to older actors being cast as younger versions of themselves in BCS versus BB, but he decided he didn't care and wanted to cover it up with bad makeup, hairpieces and weird lighting/black & white. Frankly he's lucky that Jonathan Banks hasn't quit. The guy was born in '47 and looks his age. But as obvious as it is that Banks appears older than he did in BB, the real cringeworthy scenes are the "slippin' Jimmy" ones back in Cicero where an aged Odenkirk wears a mott the hoople wig to play a young hustler in bizarre lighting that does little to hide his real age (at least on my 77" OLED).
