Johnny O'Clock (1947, Robert Rossen) Cute n Nasty. And talky. A good one, though.

 

I thought this was worth watching since I am a Harry Potter nut.

 

The Little Foxes (1941, William Wyler)
Lillian Hellman's classic play about American greed in the antebellum South gets a handsome treatment by Wyler. Rumor is that star, Bette Davis, did little more than steal the performance of Regina Giddens from Broadway legend, Tallulah Bankhead. In '41 Davis had the Hollywood clout to play nearly anything - and get away with it. It's Wyler's picture, though. And the cast, most from the (then recent) Broadway cast, are very good. Recommended.

Currently watching lots of giallo movies, you know, the italian thrillers often featuring very bloody serial killings many of the classics are on YouTube and it's fun to discover them. My favorites so far, all currently on YouTube and english-friendly:

I watched The Silence of the Lambs on YouTube yesterday. I was rather annoyed to discover certain parts had been edited.

 

Moonstruck (1987)

Love Happy (1949), the Marx Brothers final film. I had not seen it since the late '80s and it's not nearly as terrible as I used to think it was.
The print on YouTube (I believe it's from the currently available DVD or Blu-ray) contains some added and alternate scenes and editing.

Me and My Gal (1932, Raoul Walsh) Cop, Tracy, and barmaid, Bennett, are wise-cracking pair who attempt to steer Bennett's sister away from her gangster boyfriend.
The drunk gags go on too long but verbal sparring between the two stars work fine. Amusing comedy.

 

nice list, the only one I don't have on disk is Le Orme. I have seen it though, it might have been on Youtube.

 

There is a disclaimer at the start of it saying it's been edited for time and content. Wonder if that's because it's R-rated and they're putting it out for free? YouTube says their rating is TV-14, so maybe it's the TV edit. 1:52:19 is the YouTube running time. 1:58:00 is what Wikipedia says the running time should be.

 

Robocop (1987)

 

Unfortunately looks like the R-rated films like RoboCop they show for free are edited. This is 5 minutes shorter than it should be, has the disclaimer and says it's rated Tv-14. If you have a paid copy viewable on YouTube, those should be unedited.

 

There isn't a paid copy, but Google Play Movies & TV has the original R-rated version for $3.99.

 

I mean if you had a digital copy and linked your accounts up. Most things I owned a digital copy for I can view on YouTube because my accounts are linked.

Long Day's Journey Into Night (1962, Sidney Lumet)
My favorite version of the Eugene O'Neill Play. Family dysfunction that still packs a punch. The cast is fantastic.

 

Murder By Contract (1958, Irving Lerner)
First time for me but I hear it's one of the better noirs. Plus, I like Vince Edwards from his work in Kubrick's The Killing. Looks promising.

 

I freaking love Detour.

Ann Savage delivers a performance for the ages. It's a fantastic film from start to end.
