Hi! Feel free to list an album that you might not have in your collection were it not for one compelling track, a track so good that you won't sell it/trade it/cast it into a vat of acid.

For example, I think that The Beatles "Let It Be...Naked" isn't very good, and I don't listen to it much(don't wish to debate it, sorry)...except for the mix of "Across The Universe" included on the disc. It's fantastic.

It's THAT good, to me, that I'll keep the album.

No debate, I promise…just one quick question…is it the mixes of the songs or the songs themselves?

This one track that opens the album is a brooding, intense track that builds into something reminiscent of a heavier Jeff Buckley song. Awesome tune.

the rest of the album (IMO) bores me.
I keep the disc for that one amazing song

I really like that song and bought the album just for that song and to complete my collection, but I haven't listened to it since I got it.

I kind of like the others, but not as much as side two.

I really like side one of Atom Heart Mother, but haven't (and don't really care to) listened to the second side.

In a roundabout way 'Mother' does save 'Synchronicity'; the album was already a stylistic stretch for the group, and this song took the stretching gamble to the albums' limit, and I think probably helped the artistic credibility for the Police in the long run. Think about it....the weirdest, most musically diverse set of songs is what the band went out with, and ALSO happened to be their best-selling album not counting any compilations. It was gutsy for them at that point to decide "we recorded this track, and we're putting it out whether fans can go along with it or not". And y'know what, for Police fans and music nuts in general, to this day if you bring up 'Synchronicity' people will remember 'Mother' probably as much as any other song on the album, whether it's because they hated it, they skipped over it every time or they loved it (my girlfriend actually loves it precisely because it's a weird Andy song). It gets a reaction, therefore it saves the memory of an album that doesn't really need help remembering but does it anyway.
