Learned: announcements for exciting new and upcoming releases are always helpful. It could be as simple as planning for an Amazon pre-order or more complex with a special order through an obscure retailer. Always appreciated.

Gained: more in the physical sense, by acquiring new CD's, DVD'A's and SACD's, always in great condition from trusted sources.

I can even remember how or why I stumbled here I must have googled something musical, and BOOM! here I am
I've learned there are music nerds out there even nerdier than me
I've learned to not be such a music snob and relax, keep my ears open and just enjoy
I've learned more useless music trivia than I ever thought I would....keep it coming!

There is no thread about The Beatles that is too trivial.

    Time becomes a loop

I'm constantly staggered and bewildered how much you lot type into here about a band that hasn't recorded anything new since 1970

Even more bewildering is not using the search on the forum and just starting a new discussion on the same thing over and over for 100s of more pages.

That there is, somewhere in the multiverse, a thread dedicated to the "Finn Brothers", an act I have literally never heard of, much less heard, that has garnered around 18,000 reply posts, and counting.

Meanwhile, the typical Guns 'n Roses post generates about 20 replies.

That does astonish me to no end. That said, this forum is awesome for 100 reasons. Have learned so much about so many musical things.

That there is really no such thing as bad taste in music.
That you should always trust your own ears.
That what sounds good to me doesn't necessarily sound good to someone else
That there are lots of people here with incredible knowledge

    and most importantly

That it is possible, with proper moderation and a reasonably civilized crowd, to run a forum that doesn't descend into a den for trolls and bigots.

Back to.. what was it again we were discussing? Oh, yes, the Beatles of course!

My first contact with the forum was when I got in into vinyl again and was on the lookout for the best vinyl pressings of the albums that interested me. Later I found out that that information can be had for any album of any band (at least English-language ones).

Then I found out there is no thread here that cannot be turned into a Beatles thread. Which is fine by me.
