With Charlie’s loss, the decision is no longer hypothetical.

Mick can now summon up "his drummer" without a shot to the jaw

Standard "they should've hung it up long ago" comment. Which they honestly should have.

But without Charlie? No. The other past members were disposable (at least in some sense) but Charlie's too integral.

They should do the scheduled tour, and then call it a day.

Considering that they already planned on it this fall, I would say yes.

if they do it will seem more and more liek a facade of what WAS but also what can you do ? Time marches on and its a sad day. I think they should finish their tour and
call it a day. DO archive releases that honor the band and thats it

Maybe they should put out a final album with what they recorded so far.

For selfish reasons I hope not. We have tickets for their show here in October because back when I bought them (before Covid) I figured it would be the last time I saw them. Even without Charlie I still want to see the others one more time if possible.

Love this band and aside from my Mother and Father and sibling - they've been the longest term rock in my life, I was also born in 1962. I think they should call off the tour and only release a new LP if he's on the tracks and if so, that should be the last. All great things come to an end.

I think it would be alright for mick and keith (and maybe ron) to do a nice acoustic tour. But, I’m sorry, there ain’t no stones no more.

I thought Charlie already decided he wasn't going to be part of the upcoming tour

I think the seeds are already of kind of sewn to continue. Maybe they could make Daryl a member then there would be 4 guys.

    IDK and I don't care. They're the semi-Stones now.

A R+R band with a for hire bass player is one thing. A R+R band without a drummer is something else. Some might like that something else. ok for them, I'm just not interested.

I remember Mick's comment about the 'irreducible core' of the Stones being him, Keith and Charlie, and I'll take him at his word.

It would make the tour all the more poignant. I would hate for them to carry on like Townshend and Daltrey.

My guess is they'll at least do the upcoming tour. If Mick, Keith, and Ronnie want to continue, they'll continue.

As for whether they should... I think it really depends on how resistant you are to change. If you want the Stones to be the Stones you remember from when you were in high school, well, they probably haven't been that for a long time. If they keep going, it will be different, but it was different after Bill left, and it was different after Taylor left, and it was different after Brian left. So it will be different without Charlie, but will it be good? They haven't written any classic songs since the '90s (if not earlier), but they've been a killer live act all along. With Mick and Keith approaching 80, it's surprising that it's still an open question how much longer they can keep that up.

    Up to Mick and Keef.
If I had my say, finish the tour commitments, and do a massive send off show next summer in London to hit that 60 year mark.

They should retire, but they missed this point 20 years ago!

They should do what they please, as he was their friend and bandmate. I am sure that Mick, Keith, and Ronnie are hit harder by this than we are. My opinion is that they should retire the band because it's hard to contemplate a Rolling Stones without Charlie.

They earned the right to do whatever the £*%¨ they want.
Staying home won't bring Charlie back. If they want to go out and rock, they should.
