Perty please? Me no klew. I’m thinking of a ML stylus now.

 

Must be a REK-O-KUT Ultra. Not really much to match beyond the sensitivity (gain) and input capacitance. In this case, pretty standard, gain is about 38dB, capacitance a little high for the popular AT line of carts, but still useable with very low capacitance cables. The 60mV overload is a good value, means you can even handle some of the higher output cartridges without much worry, so makes it more flexible.

There aren't really that many MM carts with the ML stylus, so that narrows it down to just a handful, and mostly Audio Technica.

 

imo one primary criteria is the C of 220 pF
With cables and tonearm you need a cartridge that likes 300 pF

What are you feeding it to?

Ortofon doesn't have anything with the ML (MicroLine/MicroRidge) tip that you wanted, but they have the FineLine on the Bronze and OM 30, and Shibata on the Black, and Fritz Gyger on the OM 40.

Yea, the standard DIN cable they provide is pretty high capacitance, so you'll be nearing 500pF with the phono preamp, may want to consider high output MC cart, or maybe one of the moving iron types that is less sensitive to load capacitance. Or get a lower capacitance cable. Or just not worry about it. Not really quite sure what your goals are or how much you may want to spend.

JICO SaS is the same as the ML

 

WELL one thing I WON’T be doing is spending $1500 on a cartridge
now that I saw that vid of companies shipping their wares out of spec.

Classify me as one of those casual+ listeners who is looking to upgrade
from old used TTs to a nice reliable reproducer of sound. I’m aleady up
to ≈3k on a TT + accessories and that’s about the limit and then I’m good.

I think you’re 100% correct on that cable; I’m getting low C cables to
minimize funk. I prefer funk in the music itself. Also getting a protractor
( tho there are freebies online ) and a tracking gauge. Peanuts compared
to everything else in the steadily growing list.

 

… and GOOD LUCK auditioning cartridges around here …
no such brick and mortar exists any longer.
