I'm just curious. As to the selections of great and bad albums, I leave that up to you as everyone has their own taste. Just think your favorite, vs. your most hated. As for systems, I don't know but for me it would be something like this

Oswalds Mill Audio - AC1 | OMA Loudspeakers

The transistor radio, well it's a transistor radio.

So basically you are asking if I had a dream system and was only allowed to listen to Britany Spears on it.

    yeah. No hard pass.

    lol

Neither anymore. And I don’t have to!

Listening to crap music on anything sort of defeats the whole purpose.

I find certain types of awful music so aggravating, that I would rather turn a “dream system” off and put it up for sale.
Would be a bad dream having to suffer through the most awful types of music.

However, if I were to have only a transistor radio, I would still be reading and investigating about higher end sound equipment.
Learning about audio equipment is part of the hobby IMO, so it’s not solely about the music.

About 60/40 when it comes to music vs gear.

What if you were on an island and there wasn't even a remote possibility of upgrading your transistor radio, well I don't know, maybe you could do something with seashells, but still. Would you be disappointed when you listened to your favorite music?

I don’t own bad albums, but I have some that are not so well recorded. However listening to them on a good system is still much more satisfying then listening to a favorite album on a simple transistor radio. It sucks the life out of a recording!

I must say it would very much depend upon the various accompanying accoutrements.

Nah, I sometimes listen to the internal speakers of my phone to preview a new band or type of music, would be fine to settle with that if it would be a necessity.
As long as the musical talent can be observed.
I wouldn’t be having long listening sessions though, due to ear fatigue lol

    Edit:
The main problem of a radio is the garbage that radio stations broadcast nowadays, not the sound quality :hide:

I don't own bad albums either, but I am aware of some that I truly despise. That's the question here, I'd gladly play any of my albums all day long on those Owalds :D

My ears are beyond fatigued, I think they are basically lying on the ground dead! :)

Unfortunately I do all those things you don’t. Never on purpose though. It always just happens to me.

    I could care less honestly.
    No joke either.

I am a musician as well.
When I listen to music I think, wow that passage is so moving, or the emotion it conveys.
It’s art. In its highest form.

I don’t need an immense stereo to get goosebumps from Beethoven, or miles Davis , or Eddie Van Halen.

if there was a theoretical choice where someone said to me.
You can have the $5million system but you can only listen to Brittany Spears, but if you want to listen to whatever you like, you can only listen to it on this transistor radio.
The choice would be easy and in a heartbeat I would pick the latter.

I got my system not because of the system. I got it for my love of music. Period

    Same experiences here.
I’ve endured those torments too... a day at work becomes a very, very long day.

So to what degree are people who are dissatisfied with their amazing systems, just listening to ****ty music?

    Don’t know.

I think that is swaying from the initial question and poll?

I don't think I could listen to anything on a transistor radio. Dream system for me. Guess I have to expand my musical horizons.
