I bought my ARS back in 1996. It’s a tremendous sounding pressing. Only had the original Columbia’s to compare to but it smoked those. Never had a desire to spend more $$$ to try anything else.
I think it's because there's no mention of Kevin cutting it anywhere unless you check discogs or own the record. When Kevin initially emailed me back he said he didn't even know they'd used his mastering on it haha
One dude with an agenda posting relentlessly about it and making grandiose unproven claims based on fundamentally flawed understanding of what he's claiming about it is why.
Actually it’s because some woman with a YouTube channel talked about it a couple weeks back. That spurred my first post a few pages back.
Basically what I've been thinking since you first posted about this album. Move onto something else. You do have other albums, don't you?
Yet you continuously comment about an album that you don't own, haven't heard and seem to refuse to pay $25 on? If you want to actually comment about the record, then buy it, and comment on the actual sound?
You know what this is about. It is the sourcing that is being discussed. Let's not go back to that again. Get with the program and understand once and for all that a digital source is infinitely far more likely. I'm done discussing this with you. A more stubborn person outside of flat earthers, I have never met.
This thread is about comparing the 1 step with the Gray cut. 5 pages later there is no single comparison. It you do own the 1 step there is no reason to buy another version. Maybe time to close the thread?
But before that happens I am curious to know if anyone can share how the 50th Anniversary may compare to a Holland pressing I have? Format: Vinyl, LP, Album, Ⓤ, Gatefold Country: Europe Released: 1970 Genre: Rock, Latin
Well. Now I want to get KG 2020 cut, but there's no easy/cheap way to obtain it in Australia. Amazon can't be trusted, as they (or their sellers) may ship you 2016 copy instead. :/
I'm an Aussie and got from Amazon Australia. The listing says it's the 2020 cut. And if by chance they send the wrong one, Amazon refund on the spot
Could you please care to share the url of Amazon AU product page? The one I checked don't have any in-stock locally (AU) but refers to 3rd party sellers and Amazon US (who's out of stock). Cheers Edit: I don't really care if AAA or not. I just want to have a decent sounding copy on vinyl without paying big dollaroos .
Sure. This is the one I bought. https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B01BLAP29G/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Acoustic sounds also has the right one. $25 USD plus shipping. Santana-Abraxas-180 Gram Vinyl Record|Acoustic Sounds
But there is clear indication. If it has Steve and Kevin’s initials in the dead wax it is AAA. If not, enjoy your crummy digital file.
Me too, although at the time it required a very big commitment to do so, no point in regretting not seeing years into the future really.
And now back to our regularly scheduled programming... Still wondering where the 1981 Columbia Mastersound half-speed mastered version might fall in comparison. Anyone?
